Default MS Neon Mod's

Okay I finished building my MS1 V3.0 and everything works good on the stim and MT.

But as far as the Neon mod's go I have a few questions.

Boost Junkie posted this link http://megasquirt.sourceforge.net/extra/setup-neon.html that shows what needs to be done for the Neon mod's, but here's my questions.

1. It says Jumper D1 <--- To what??

2. It says Jumper D2 <--- To what??

3. It says Jumper OptoIn to +5v on proto area <--Is every hole/pin in the proto area 5v? Just solder a wire between the OptoIn pin and a pin in the proto area?

Also what neds to be done to run Fuel only right now? Both the input and output mods? or is that just for MSNS?

Because right now I want to hook up and run fuel only for a while to get use to everything, then go MSNS-E.

And is there a way to convert the engine MAP gauge in MT kpa to display psi?

Also, is there anything I need to know or do for just fuel only? I was going to plug the stock injectors into the stock clips and wire my RC 750's with the RC pigtail's.

How does the MS read RPM to determine injector firing without having spark hooked up?

You just short out those two diodes. Or remove the diode and put a piece of wire in it's place.

If you actually examine the proto area you will see two holes at the top labeled 5V or S5, I don't remember off the top of myhead. There is also an S5 hole over next to the DB9 connector.

You would only have to perform the input modifications to run fuel only. However, has anybody been successful running fuel only on an NGC engine?

I don't know off the top of my head but I would imagine there is an INI file you can edit. Try searching on msefi.com and see if anybody else has done it.

If you are going to leave your stock injectors hooked up as a dummy load then you might want to take precautions to keep them from overheating. I know if I leave them running on my test bench for too long they get pretty hot.

The MS reads RPM off the stock crank sensor. That's why you performed those input mods.

Hope this helps.

I have been really looking at building one of these systems for my SRT. The ability to control water injection, fuel, datalog, and even boost seems pretty nice. But how hard is it to make it work with an SRT? anybody been able to get boost control with the MegaSquirt?

Perfect. That answered my questions.

I didn't even consider that is what was meant by jumping D1 & D2, I have just been a little paranoid about doing the wrong thing

I think SpecJ has run fuel only, can't recall the overall result being negative thats why I figured I would give it a shot.

Okay two more questions.

1. Would tap'ing into my aftermarket tach driver (for a tach signal) prevent any problems with the NGC? or would it be the same as using the stock crank sensor for the rpm signal?

2. My RC 750's are 12.6ohms, I read something about low impedence and high impedence injectors, but I can't remember which needed special treatment.

You can use a tach driver for fuel injector control. However, if you want spark control you must use the crank pos sensor.

Both types of injectors require different injector settings. Look at the megamanual on www.megasquirt.info for how to set it up.

If you have the ver 3.0 with all options it makes no diffrence what injectors you run, flyback is built in.

Yeah i followed that link that Boost listed and I read that it doesn't really matter with v3.0

Thanks.
