Do you mean no intercooler at all? I wish I still had the logs, but with the stock intercooler I would hit 115+ degree intake air temps at around 15psi. This was when it was about 80F during the day. After I installed the larger aftermarket intercooler they stayed very close to ambient.

I'd say its dangerous. Hot air promotes detonation.

I have a stock SRT unit on my 1st gen. It is WAY more shrouded than on a SRT. I also have a warm air intake on the turbo. I see around 100-110 on a long 12-14 psi pull on 85ish ambient day.

Watch out your IAT temps. Somehow the MS pulls away fuel pulse as the IAT temp increases, so if fuel economy is not too mucho of an issue for you now I said it could be safer for you to run your IAT sensor hanging in some secure place around the engine compartment where it can sense the air temp without making contact with something hot on the engine.

It is a quick hack/fix, but this way the MS will not start pulling fuel away fuel pulse as you pull hard, this will be safer for you until you get your cooler, but most likely the car will work a tad reacher than usual, nothing that you can't fix by using a VE / Table Transform / Negative shift by the needed percent to the whole table. But again, this are quick hack/fixes, the others are right, just get a hold of a nice IC as fast as you can and use the IAC the way it should be used.

It does that because air temp is a major factor in the pulse width calculation. You have to know air pressure and temperature to determain density. For that reason IAT has to be accurate. Heat soak is not good.

IC got plumbed in today, custom built pipes they are sweet.

1 Solid no joint/coupler pipe from turbo to IC then 1 pipe no joint/coupler to TB. All my sensors are staying where they are, as I do not want any chance whatsoever of boost leak from pipes and 4 couplers is the least I can do so thats where its staying.

Anyways, today at 8 PSI repeated hard pulls on the freeway from 3000 RPM in 3rd up to 5k in 5th, it never topped 100! 98 was the most it reached underboost, and when cruising it dropped to around 85. Ambient was like 70 so I think its doing ok for now. T This is with a shortened AEM Tyhpoon intake to clear the piping so technically its now a SRI instead of a CAI.

ime to turn boost up to 13ish and see how the IC acts around that. The nice thing about my install, is that while the IC is infront of the radiator (duh) the rad fans still pull a lot of air through it since it sits where the stock AC Condenser used to sit.

As an odd effect, the turbo is a LOT louder now that there are no boost leaks and its able to breath properly, but it sounds good now.
