Default External voltage regulator

I just purchased a Megasquirt for my 420a, and realized that I will need an external voltage regulator for my alternator. From what I understand, the stock ECU controls the voltage...and since that is being eliminated from the car...I need to get the external.

This is becoming a hassle of sorts, as from what I know I can only get this from vehicles pre-late 80s. For those that have been successful in implementing this system, where did you get your voltage regulator from? I’m hoping there is an easier way then digging through various Junkyards looking for a Colt or worse.

boost junkie answered my question in a different thread:

"The only thing you can't control is the alternator. You need an external regulator from an 80's turbo dodge omni. They are only $15 from autozone. See this document for instructions on how to control the alternator and gauges without the stock ecu (look on page 15). It's specific to the electromotive TEC-2 ecu, but the concept is the same for the megasquirt.
