oooooo i always wondered why the "voltage" was so high on my tps line lol i try not to think too much some times. would his voltage be lower because he has a resister on the tps line?

Just a note. If you car is having idle issues, make sure you check your barometer settings. I had something like a max of 135 and min of like 75, i changed the max to 106 and min to 95 and it idles perfect (since im at sea level in jersey)

What does it look like with a timing light? first, get your timing steady, if you didn't already - use a paint pen to make a small mark on your crank pulley, all you're looking for is that it stays int he same place when you set a fixed angle.

well im not ready to take the engine apart to look at it lol, but its idleing better. starting is good and bad sometimes, but im working on it.

but, i have another problem now...yay...my tps voltage is very erratic. i want to go over from map-based accel to tps-based, but i have to set the tps threshold super high so the car doesnt go crazy at idle even, and i didnt even bother taking it out for a drive to tune the acceleration enrichments. i had the threshhold set at 3.0v/sec and the engine was still going nuts. is there any way to calm down my tps line? like resistor or something maybe. i really want to go to tps accel because it has a late response and if i floor the car from a stop, it will go super lean, almost sputter out for a half second then get super rich and then back to lean again. any ideas on how to calm the tps line down?

without a doubt, the answer is to fix the problem at the TPS - not "calm it down" - I take it you tried replacing the TPS already?

What I'd do is put a voltmeter on the 5v supply to the TPS, and see if it's a constant 5.0 v or if it's wandering like the TPS.

If it's not wandering, then look at the TPS signal return line and measure it's voltage at a constant throttle opening (idle should work fine). Is it a constant voltage, or is it wandering? If it's not wandering, then the last thing is to check the ground that's being supplied to the TPS. Measure it's resistance in ohms, it should be zero or very near it. If these all check out OK, then check where your MS is grounded - should be zero ohms to the battery negative, like the TPS ground. If so, then did you build your MS yourself or have it built for you?
