I'm in the process of developing a product for the SRT4 and NGC neon that would allow for a direct connection for megasquirt into the car's existing wiring without splicing. This would allow for instant un-installation as well for emissions testing and what not.
Basically, you would plug your existing wiring harness into one side of my product, and plug the other side of my product into the factory ECU. Then connect the necessary wires from the MS into my product, and the MS is installed. (besides the CLT and IAT sensors)
Would there be an interest in such a product at a $200 price point? I know there's a lot of you that would love to have a megasquirt running your car, but the complex installation and inability to pass emissions tests are the major concerns. This would solve both problems.
I haven't nailed down what my manufacturing costs will be per unit, so I can't give a concrete price just yet, but I need to know that if I build 100 of these, enough will sell that I won't lose money. I will need to get molds for connectors and such set up, and it's not cheap to do.
I looked into doing this last year. I was going to pick up a couple burnt ECU's and make up a couple; one for myself and one to sell to recoup the costs. I also looked into getting some prebuilt sockets and connectors which appear to exist.
You don’t need to just sell this for the MS guys, you could also sell straight up patch cords. This would be useful for those who don’t want to get a MS or reflash and just want a piggyback.
So including the patch cords it should make it easier for you to sell your minimum required number of units. I wouldn’t bet on this flying off the shelves though, it may take a while. People are cheap (especially the average SRT-4 owner) and cutting into your harness is free.

I agree with Maj Dump I have about less than 100 bucks invested in my setup old engine harness was 65 bucks if I remember correctly and pins for the wires were around 15 bucks now the fun part was pinning them to the plugs that go to the engine harness that took like 6-8 hours and god was that a tedious task(there were alot of smoke breaks involved) if I had the connector that is on the ecu that would have made my life alot easier

I think it woul dbe a good thing like already discussed, but everything is already wired up on my car....so to unwire then hookup to these connections would be an even more cost. I paid someone to install mine so now would have to pay to have someone undo it and rehook everything back up. It would be good for future peeps though.
I have a Spectre EMS-Pro that I've been waiting to install since the summer, and I NEED this... $200?! When can you have it ready? PM me when you're ready to get this money.
i hacked together my srt4 harness out of base model neon harnesses for about 20 bucks form the j/y. i suppose there may be a market for those who dont want to chop up their car and still run ms or other piggyback et cetera.
anyone have the wiring diagram for our cars? I have the ems pro. it will be awhile since i just shipped my tranny to get built and also i have my dash out now to get painted and would like to run the wires while i can. A harness to plug into would be great as i want to keep it clean.
I'm said , i have remove the 4 plug connector from a stock ECU, and the only think missing to finish my is a old harness . Can't wait to try the MS on my SRT .
I ever run a MS in a 16V Dodge omni and it was a very nice setup, easy to tune, datalogging is sooooo cool also.
If Someone have a old harness for me ..i take it!!!

Hey Guillaume, I did not know you have a SRT4 now.
