Default Quick questions on installing a used AEM EMS.

Hey guys whats going on?I purchased an AEM EMS a while back from a member on here and I am just getting ready to install it since I ran into a few problems since I bought it (blew my motor). The guy who had it before me pretty much had my same setup, except his turbo was different (3076R) and maybe a different intercooler and little things like that. But for the most part, his car had stock internals (like me),750cc injectors (like me) and a bunch of other bolt on's (just like me).So what my question is,if I bolt this up to my car in theory the car should start right up,correct?Im just trying to get the car in driving form so I can get it over to Nemo's before I pop another motor . Obviously I know his tune wont be perfect for my car or anything since no car is the same as another, but the AEM computers will hold a tune once you disconnect them, right?I read through the EFI basics and the user guide and I get nothing but over whelmed with how much shit there is to read, lol. Cant seem to find my answer anywhere. So heres a couple questions I have..

1.) Does the AEM pcm hold a tune once you uninstall it or do I have to load it up through the computer (laptop) itself?

2.) Can somebody post pictures of how to install the boost solenoid? I understand you have to run one wire to the ground and then the other to supposedly the green wire coming from the stock solenoid, but im not sure which way or how to run the vacuum lines to this thing? Here it is...and again,I cant find a how-to or anything on this little guy...

3.) What all do I REALLY need to know before I start the car if the car was already tuned by the previous owner?

4.) Do I have to manually spin the motor to TDC or is that only if you buy the AEM EMS brand new?

Like always any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks alot!

yes the ecu saves the last tune that was loaded

the bc wires up right to the stock bc solenoid lines no extra wiring

his tune will not be good in your car.......it will need totally re-tuned

doing the tdc thing will create proper timing tables in the car

onthedwnlow - Thanks man, yeah I know his tune wont be good for my car,but it should start right up and get me to the tuner with minor modifications, correct? Also, this is the correct way to wire up the aem solenoid...right?

Then I just tap into the green wire coming from the stock boost control solenoid and then ground the other wire to the chassis, correct?

you will need more tuning than you think....

no you just hook it right to the factory 2 wires no need to do anything else

thats the right vac lines tho

Do I just tap into the 2 factory wires then or do I completely cut off the old solenoid and solder my new one in?

Well, worst comes to worst I can just disconnect the AEM EMS,drive it over to Nemo's on the stock computer then get shit done over there, lol.

you cut the connector and solenoid off......leave a few inch's of wire just incase you need to re install later on......and just solder the new connector on......

it will drive well enought to take it there but not much further

Or you could just keep stock soleniod...thats what onthedwnlow has and never had an issue. you car will start but you dont really kno what ne thing is going to be like until you start it. it will need a facial so to speak.

Wow! So why would you even bother replacing it?

for a big turbo setup the vac lines needed for the nipple on the wg and the nipple on the solenoid are 2 diffrent sizes.......you have to use a reducer........

i have a aem(mac) solenoid sitting in the shed waiting for me to finish my all stainless -an fittings and line install

Ahah, why not buy a thick hose with a thin ID then just drill it out to match the other hose?Or why not just replace the nipple on the wga?

trust me you want the thicker line on the wg......drilling the inside of vac tube is the worst thing ever.......makes the entire thing weak.......i have never found a nipple like the wg's use with barb fitings but like i said......you need the bigger hose with better air flow
