Default Part throttle/Cruising timing

Back when I had a stock pcm and a tech guage i was able to see my timing while cruising. I would see it around 50 deg adv. and I dont see #'s like this in the timing maps in vacuum. Also when I would throw my too rich code i would notice the timing go down and the car wouldnt drive as nice so im thinking the car drives better cruising with more timing? Is it ok to advance this as long as I look at knock?

The only proper way to do this friend is with the help of a good load bearing dyno. You can adjust timing and see tractive effort/torque in real time. So you can see the precise point you have hit optimal timing for that load cell. Contrary to popular belief you can not feel 5 ft/lb difference in torque output while attempting to hold the car in a load cell on the street. When a car is tuned properly it will perform better in many conditions than a car that was not properly optimized in every cell on the street.

do you guys visit florida , also looking at the stock aem map, is it really low, maybe we could add 5 degress of timing and even though it might not be the best it would be better. is this possible?

Yes sir I do travel; No it is actualy pretty close on the low load cruising portion of the map. Make sure your A/F's are in line prior to ignition timing calibration.
