So I have been having trouble trying to get my EMS to connect through the computer,I have read DAN_3KVR4_SRT4's thread because I saw he had the same problem as well.I have tried nearly everything,having no luck here.I took a couple pictures of what it does,so here you go...
First when I hooked everything up,opened AEM pro...it asked me to connect,I plug the connector into my computer,then turn the key to the "on" position and then I click connect.Select "Serial",then it shows me this...
With also this on the screen..
I restart the computer,unplug everything,do it all over again.Then I get this screen..
Those both sat on the screen for more then 10 minutes.Now let me note that I am not using a Serial to USB adapter at this point,I was so frustrated with Windows Vista on the other laptops I had tried using that I had gone to my house,unplugged my home PC (the one im on now) and I brought that back to my warehouse where my car is at to run only the cable AEM provided me with,no adapters because I wasnt having much luck trying to get an update on Windows Vista to get the driver for my adapter to work with it.Im using this POS of a cable AEM supplied me with,heres the end thats going in to my computer...
I made sure my OB2 port wasnt loose,so I did this..
I was also wondering how you distinguish what number your box is,so I took this picture maybe for someone to chime in,im guessing its number 42 or am I way off?
Im not sure when Nemo will be able to help me out so in the meantime I was hoping one of you guys could.Like always thanks for any help!

Take the end case surrounding the pins on the cable off, it will let the connectors seat better.
Those are different errors than I was getting. It looks like the connection from laptop to ECu is not stable. Try this though, when you connect the laptop and are about ready to turn on the car, turn the key, let it sit for about 4 seconds, then click connect on AEMPro to see if it goes. Mine, I wasnt letting it sit enough after I turned the key to initialize.
Just to ensure you've checked all the "obvious" possibilities:
1) Ensure that you have selected the proper COM port. If you're using a USB adapter, make certain that "Serial" bubble is still selected, and that in the dropdown box, you've selected the proper com port. (I use a Keyspan serial/USB adapter, and in the dropdown box, it actually recognizes it and that is what I have selected).
2) **IMPORTANT** Before turning the key to the "run" position, first click "connect to ECU" on the laptop. After it shows the ECU to be "offline", turn the key to the "run" position. (You can alter some settings in Telemetry to enable connecting w/out doing it in this order. But first you need to connect to the ECU. After connecting for the first time, just uncheck "telemetry enabled" in the Telemetry setup screen, and save your changes. Then you won't have to click connect before turning the ignition to "run".).
3) If you've followed the above steps and are still unable to connect, you could have issues with the EMS cable. The problems are, of course, in the OBD section of the cable. The pins don't get a very good connection. There are several different ways to attempt to remedy this. Some have broken off the surrounding plastic area around the pins to try and get a deeper connection. Others completely remove all the plastic surrounding the pins and board. I ended up hard-wiring my cable (splicing into the OBD-II wires) after trying a completely new OBD connecter from OBDcables.
4) If you've ensured steps 1 - 3 are not the problem...Then I give up. Restarting the computer is always a good suggestion, although, I'm sure that at this point you've already tried that at least 100,000,000 times!
Hope some of this helps. It's very frustrating having an EMS, and not being able to use it.

I was using an adapter before,but then I was using my actual computer so now I was only using the cable that AEM provided me with.And I did check the "serial" button,it would only let it run on "COM 1" so thats what it was on.My cable doesnt seem to get a very good connection thats why I zip tied them together but still no luck.If Nemo cant get to it tomorrow then ill just go through everything again,hack the shit out of my cable and go to town AGAIN! And yeah nothing is more frustrating then having a stand alone in your car and not being able to start it,then putting your stock PCM back in 2 days in a row.Thanks for the help!

Try it again and this time go slow with the key activation. Connect everything, get the laptop up and the pro software up and going, turn the ignition key on and then count 20 mississippi's, in the AEM go to ECU then select connect. If it fails turn the key off, kill the connect screen in the AEM pro, count 20 mississippi's, turn ignition key back on, count 20 mississippi's, in the AEM go to ECU then select connect.
I too had the same issues and have figured out that above seems to work.........theres a wait period involved. Once you get past this you will see the same thing with starting the car. Turn the key on, count 20 mississippi's, start the car.

I figured it was the boost solenoid! Ill make sure those settings are what they are too,thanks man!

If im not using an adapter on my cable,what should I be selecting on the drop down menu when I select "Serial"? I selected COM 1 because thats what seemed to make the most sense.
I finally got it to connect today,the car started and wouldnt idle for shit so I shut it off and hooked the stock PCM back up until Nemo can get it tuned for me.This is what I did...
I had everything connected,car was off.I opened AEMPro,it asked me to Connect or work offline.I click Connect,it throws up the "Querying" window.Then I turned the key to the "On" position,almost as soon as I did that BAM! Its loading like crazy and recognizing everything,it was awesome,lol.The other kids tune obviously would not work in my car,AT ALL considering I had to hold the throttle at 3k to even get the car to start up and stay running without dying.
