How hard is the AEM EMS to Tune? Replace other Electronics
Right now I'm running a Greddy Boost Controller / E-manage, WOT Box, and TCS traction control. I'm come to realize that instead of having multiple electronics, I should've just invested in one.
But... Just how hard would it be to replace all this with the AEM? The guy I bought my turbo from gave up and sold his car. I really don't want to do this if I don't have to. hah
hey man its eric from up in philly....i have an ems on my car......its not that hard to tune....if you try to do it your self its best to have 2 people...one to drive and one to tune.....i have some slight issues with mine i still need to work out.....but its not that bad
edit....you can sell and get rid of everything but i would keep the wot shift box....somepeople have found a way around using some other options in the ems to emulate that but its not as good as the wot box.....
and boost control trac tion control and everything is built into this
Clicked the link cause I had the same questions, no one in my area can tune (Fairbanks Alaska), but I'm not a dummy when it comes to advanced math and computers. I can tune a carb, but haven't played with EFI much. I have an SAFC2 tune (tweeked for my car myself, took tune from another car) and I hear once you start pushing the big boost/hp SAFC2 tunes are dangerous and un-reliable. Hopeing to get an AEM EMS, wondering same question that Tavenger5 is, some threads in this EMS forum are a bit mind scratching, but I think thats more of cause I have never seen the software.
Anywho, wouldn't have posted, but I noticed Tavenger5 had a 3.0 Avenger... I had a tc1 body kitted avenger
if you tune yourself you need the wideband. it is not that difficult. i previously had that greddy setup POS, every two days i had to reset my PCM. so i sold and bought the EMS works like a dream and no probs.
I will also be taking the plunge for this over winter so it's ready for spring. With this I'll be able to remove my SAFCII, right?
Also, where's the best place to get it? I hear of some places having it for as low as $1,400 (eBay?). Thanks for any info.
you can remove and replace every motor electronic you can think of with the ems
yes there has been a few on ebay go for 1400 bucks new.....
Even my AVC-R boost controller?
ebc's....traction controllers.......2 steps.......nitrous controllers.......standard meth controller(non progressive)....even what temp the fans come on at...everything.......there is a parameter in the aem ems to activate everything.....the ems hass vss boost control(mph dependant)....and i believe you can actually convert that into a gear dependant but isnt worth it compared to the vss control......or a standard ebc setup.......
down load the v.19 aem pro software off the aem's web site and you can see the actual tuning program and everything it controls

I actually did download the software. I did make some sense of it, but right now there are a lot of things that don't make any sense.
Is there an easy way I can wire my vari-cool W/I with the EMS? (since the control that is built in is non progressive)
