aem claims that they redesigned their cable a while back...i am beginning to wonder if they changed somthing. the fact that you said it wont connect, and the guys above saying that they were having problems with my diagrams, and aem refusing to ship me a cable...interesting. i plugged my cable into a box today (other than mine) and it worked fine, however, it was box #14, so it was still old design.

So I got this piece
http://www.obd2cables.com/products/p...products_id=44

and the problem I have is that it works fine some of the times and some times it disconnects.

I am going to hard wire it but I have some questions before I do.

TOP
#2 white goes to pink
#3 2 reds goes to an empty spot. no wire on other end ( what do I do? )
why does the 2 reds connect to nothing?
#5 black goes to black with pink( it looks pink. lol ) stripe

BOTTOM
#5 red goes to green

i dont know about what colors to hard wire it to.

now, does it disconnect, like say ECU DISCONNECTED on the screen or does the screen just freeze when you go WOT? if it gets disconnected think about hardwiring it, or checkign your connections on the plug. if it freezes, thats an AEM software glitch. the fix is here

Yes I am having a disconnecting issue. Sometimes it connects and stays on and sometimes it disconnects. ( On the screen it tells me ECU disconnected )

With the hard wiring piece I'm just confused about the 2 reds. The 2 reds sit on spot number 3 on the top row but if I was to hard wire the 2 reds there is no wire on the other side to hard wire to.

And now that you mentioned about the high rpms problem I will check on it.

So I hard wired the cable and it is doing much better. I updated the file for the freezing part at high rpms and I was able to log past 7000rpms

Just one thing

1) I wired the white to pink

2) I wired black to black with pink stripe ( also known as the second black wire with stripe on the 5th spot )

3) and I wired the red to the green

I lef out the jumper wire also known as the 2 red wires. I have no problems yet.

i called the AEM company # off this forum and told them my situation. they asked me to send the cable to them so they can check it out and fix it or replace it. hopefully this sh*t will work, as my car is in desperate need of a tune. thanks tex for the sticky. i have an idea of what to do next if this fails.

Newer EMS's ship with a redesigned cable. From what I understand this was an issue with the connector that AEM used initially.

Btw, glad I found this, I need to make a cable for my serial gauge, just have to figure out what pins are what going into the serial connection.
