Default AEM Serial Gauge

I think I asked this before, but how many people are running the AEM serial gauge?

I'm curious how you set things up and what other parameters you have displayed on it.

So far I got it to display Boost based on engine load (which is just changing the range depending on what map sensor you have, stage 2 or 3 bar would be -10 to 29 for example)

Also, how do you ahve it hooked up? Modify a regular AEM serial wire and make it shorter?

ahhh, did you use the software, it comes wit a base calibration that should show most afr, tps, vss, map, rpm, knock v's,bla, bla. you can program it to do what ever you want it + it has 2 warning light out puts "u can just use led's". to use it for fp,op,n2o you will need aditional sensors. you need to disconect it to work on the ems, the software is very difficult to use but its a great up grade, if you can get it do it!!!

Yeh, I used the base map and modified some things. I actually had AFR display on the serial gauge and the wideband, but the serial was a split second behind the wideband, hehe

I wouldn't mind adding a shift light with one of the outputs. Seems like it would be pretty easy to do, and would be programmable at same time.

I didn't find the software hard to use at all. It is a little unclear on how to add some parameters, but nothing a quick search on the AEM forums couldn't find.

I have my Serial gauge and the EMS and still need to install. Took a quick look at the hardware. Any tips on the install thats not covered in the included instructions?

Also did either one of you guys also hook up another AEM add-on sensor such as for fuel, oil or nitrous and get the output onto the display?

wow you need to put that stuff in already, tell ya the truth i installed the gauge in october so i cant remember,, all i know i had to cut the serial conector out"for a second s.gauge"because the pillar pod couldn't fit it then i routed all my usb/serial cables to my glove box so i could switch between the computer and gauge
i have knock warning light at 3 volts
and i have the other light to go off at low af/r
i just used low current L.E.D. s for the lights
and you can set them up for priority too

it is realy worth a couple hundred bucks just for the warning lights

When you say you routed all the cables to the glove box. Is just so that you can open the glove box and then unravel a cable and plug into the laptop?

When I took a quick look it seemed to me that there was some pretty big ends on the cables, do any of these need to pass through the firewall?

And yes, I need to get the engine installed and the EMS hooked up. I had to wait on parts and then once I got the parts I have not been able to get free time. However the project is again a top priority after this Saturday.

Does the gauge plug into the obdII port? That would be easy and nice.

No, it's a serial connection that connects to the cable that comes with the AEM EMS which connects to the stock obd port. It will only work with the EMS.

That's what I meant. You just plug your cable from obdII port the ems accesses to the gauge? Sounds easy.
