Hi i live in NY and my friend is building his evo to be a monster so he decided he wants to go with the aem ems. So my question is this how do you get it to pass inspection in NY where they plug in your ecu? Im just curious because i plan on using the AEM ems soon for my Srt. Thanks i couldnt find anything on it and if anyone could help out that would amazing
ems takes the pcm off the bus so there will be tons of codes stored on the bus , it will never pass.
what you will need to do is get yourself a staged pcm then put your stock map sensor and injectors and the readiness tests should be done very quickly and then you can pass. thats of course as long as you pass the visual

There lies another problem, usually they can tell how many miles are on the car since you yanked the bat....NC requires you to drive 50-100 miles, the cel will pop on arround 45 miles....FYL.

The purpose of ignition advance is to account for the lag time following spark ignition for combustion pressure to peak at 15 degrees AFTER TOP DEAD CENTER. A little fyi !
ask around im sure you can find someone who can "pass it" thats what we Cali guys do
Dont work like that man, they hook up your car(obdII) to a computer that is lined to the state capital. Turn the car on and let it run for like 10 mins while it monitors all the parameters....Theres no way to fool it, atleast not in NC.

Readiness codes vary from manufacturer. Some cars will do it in 50 miles, others won't do it in 500 miles. The average SRT-4 seems to set them in 50-60miles.
To inspect a car in NC it has to be plugged up just long enough from the CPU to run the OBD II check. Usually only takes a second or so. Plugging it in for longer is just preference and makes no difference. The car being tested has to pass the OBD II test.
Using another car is a process called "Clean Scanning" and is a felony. They can now tell if you use another car to pass the OBD II portion of the test. Major fines come with this. Other states may not have that capability, or enforce it, but NC does.
I have my inspection license and do inspections daily at work, so I've had to set through the boring classes and hear all this stuff.
EMS certainly won't pass in any OBD II inspection county in NC. Now if your car is registered in a non-OBD II inspection county and only have to pass safety inspection then you are good to go as long as you can get past the visual part.
