it is to prevent your self from being injured from an exploding clutch and also to prevent further damage from it. It usually happens from High HP cars and people who raise their rev. limits

I've had a clutch that blew up on me w/ my 12.5:1 compression ratio 2.2 R/T motor before. The damage was well over 6,000 bucks.. so that's why Im going to go right ahead and spend 175 bucks to prevent further damage w/ my SRT motor
