Hey guys, help me out here, I've roll raced for years, but only took my Stage 3 to the track 3-4 times now, all in the last month, here's my best runs:
60' = 2.46
330' = 6.34
1/8th ET = 9.27
1/8th MPH = 89.04
1000 ET = 11.66
1/4 ET = 13.64
1/4 MPH = 117.07
60' = 2.34
330' = 6.226
1/8th ET = 9.18
1/8th MPH = 88.50
1000 ET = 11.59
1/4 ET = 13.587
1/4 MPH = 117.13
I don't mind being a shitty drag racer, but I'm wondering if my trap speeds would be higher if I was more aggressive in 1st and 2nd gear. Does the fact that I'm gaining 28-29mph in back half indicate that I could be seeing higher traps? I've seen guys running 91-92mph through the 1/8th finish with traps a lot lower than 117.
I haven't found the sweet spot between putting the power down in first and second, and wheel hopping the bitch, at least not yet, but I'm a little disappointed in the trap speeds given the mods the car has on it.
The runs above were with HOM, DAB2, and the car has a 60mm TB, ported Stage 3 turbo, ported turbo mani, AGP Stage 3 WGA (set at 25psi), ported intake mani, ED Beast FMIC, 3" O2, 3" downpipe with a QTEC cutout wide open. Seems like some plain Stage 3 guys are getting 117 on HOM, so with the port work, FMIC, TB, etc., I would have thought I'd be trapping higher. Am I that bad that I can't even drive to a decent trap speed?

to be honest u cannot get ur car off the line and dont know how to feather the gas through second on street tires. U need slicks and launch at 4500 with solid motor mount and a tranny mount and those times will be 12.5 and down with that trap speed. My buddy went 12.38@110 on slicks on the stock turbo the other day. U have the power u just need to harness it....... jus my $.02

Thanks, I know my technique needs work, but it's compounded by the fact that I was running on stock rims with BFG G-Force Sports, not even the KDW's, until last week. Once I got the new rubber, some 235/40/17 Azenis RT615's, I developed a boost leak... it's always one thing after another you know?
I'm sure I need to give it more go juice in 1st and 2nd, but what I'm wondering is, if I do, will that pick up my trap speeds, or just my ET? Does the 28-29mph in the back half indicate the traps would be higher if I got through the front 1/8th at a higher speed?
With your trap you should be in mid to low 12s all you need is some slicks...

the could be a little higher. I am hitting the 1/8 mile at 98-100 and trapping 124-126 so I am picking up around 26 in the back half. It jus seems like u could work on ur speeds in the first 8th a little. Like I said my buddy went 12.3@110 and ur hitting the traps 7 mph faster. I think u just need slicks and WOT shift all the gears and hang on to ur seat for possible 11's!
Thanks for the tips guys, I already have some solutions in mind. First up I have to fix my boost leak, then I can start learning the car a bit more.
Second, while I know hardware is no substitute for talent, I did buy the NDE TCS (not installed yet) and I'm going to get the Bwoody h-brace and traction bars. I have some revitup traction bars on it now, but the passenger side is slamming my hotside hardpipe whenever I get wheel hop and it's yanking my coupler loose, which is where the boost leak is.
When I get the hardware, I'm sure I'll see better ETs, but I'm most curious about what my trap speeds will be at that point...

No... less agressive in 1st and 2nd. The more aggressixve you get the more wheel spin your gonna get....Jus work on That 60 and youll be a healthy 12 sec. car...
Spinning in first and 2nd is bringing your 1/8th trap down by about 5-6MPH trust me on this one, I've done it many times on street tires. Personally I think with traction your car will trap 94-95 in the 1/8th and then pick up 27MPH from that point on because you're already travelling 7MPH faster it wont be 29MPH.
With slicks, good prep and a good driver I think you're in the 11's every pass with a mid 11 not out of the question, oh and no need to powershift, 122MPH is enough for mid 11's without powershifting.
You have the mph of a 11.7 car just about. But your 60 foot is God awful. I might be mistaken, but I was allways under the impression that spinning through any gears created higher mph in the top end when you go through the traps because your speedo gets such a big kick in the ass once you catch traction.
The car I race has a best of
60' 1.89
12.37 at 111.56
It has trapped 112 but spun like crazy and cracked of a 12.8.
With slicks and a 5 grand clutch drop launch your an 11 second car!!! If you plan on going to the track alot slicks are the best investment you can make!
