Default Went to Track, New Personal Best on Stock T

Well yesterday was street wars/Evo vs Subie day @ Englishtown, so I threw the slicks on and wanted to see after a horrible attempt last weekend how the car will do on the 75 shot. I'm still teaching myself the best way to launch on the slicks, and it has gotten progressively better as I get more and more launches...I guess

I was a little apprehensive with my burnouts at first for fear of the clutch getting too hot and not holding the nitrous. Somehow I got 5 runs in for the day...ok so i snuck a couple extras in there...thanks lazy e-town staff

Car is on Stock Turbo, S0 and no porting. Q116 Used. Car weighs 28xx w/ me.
Mods-
NX 75 Wet Shot
3" o2/Downpipe
Kinetic WGA @ 17-18 on nitrous (12ish off)
HSF1 on @ 10psi
Hard UICP w/ RS
WOT BOX
Solid Trans mount w/ U/L inserts
24.5"x8.5" MT ET Drags.

First run-Slicks @~12psi. Bottle @ 1000-1100psi.
60- 2.160
330- 5.801
1/8- 8.553@90.87
1000-10.897
1/4- 12.856@112.55

ok..so i wasn't that mad because i went 12.88@115 on DR's on a 35 shot, so i was faster this time barely...I then went on to realize my window switch settings were all changed from the last time i was in the car...

Second Run-Slicks @~12psi. Bottle @ 1000-1100psi.
60- 2.151
330- 5.518
1/8- 8.188@91.15
1000-9.115
1/4- 12.460@113.13

OK..cool, ran new fastest time...car still felt slower than usual. It was like 70's and humid as fuck at this point. Stock IC . So i got my 2 runs, now i waited for all the subie/evo's to run.

Third Run-Slicks @~8psi. Bottle @ 1000-1100psi.

Hooked better. Air temps were down. Car pulled much harder.

Fourth Run-Slicks @~8psi. Bottle @ 1000-1100psi.

Better 60'(1.861). Still getting cooler out. Haven't gotten slower throughout the day If I had shifted a little later this run from 1-2 it would have been a 12.0 I think. It hooked so much better that I shifted into second earlier, almost on expectation of earlier runs, expecting it to not have come so soon.

Video-bounces hard on the 1-2 shift

Fifth Run-Slicks @~8psi. Bottle @ 1000-1100psi.

Video-

I'm happy with it, and i know i can up the boost more, wait for a colder Wednesday afternoon and definitely click off an 11. The car definitely has it in it. After that i think its time for a FMIC and off nitrous tune with the meth so I can spray it and run over 20psi.

Damn those are some sick stock turbo traps & e.t's man.

Throw a BFMIC on that thing! That should really help you click off that 11 w/ very minimal mods.

After watchin' the video I noticed two things...

1. On that 12.1 run, seems like right outta the hole you shifted right to 2nd. If you stayed in it, in 1st a lil longer I think you might have netted a better 6ty resulting in an 11 sec pass. I saw in the pass before that, that you bounced off the rev-limiter 1st-2nd so maybe you were just tryna not to do that again. Just my .02, but still can't deny that's an awesome pass for your mods.

2. That BIG ASS dent in your driver side fender!!

and if i didnt shift so fucking soon on that run i know it would have been better 60/et. i fail

Nice Joe

Keep the dent and race from the right side if possible, IMO it causes the car to have a certain unassuming "ghetto/wananbe racer" look that may let you catch a person on the left lane side napping due to over confidence.

Bracket race it on Friday nights when you see that you can start backing up the times consistently.........then sand bag. The big ugly dent will help.

the slicks are newish, they have sat over the winter in my garage (heated). I cut a 1.8 when i fucked up my 1-2 shift way early. I just need to get the launch down a little better and i think i should be fine.

i only have 5 launches in the car so far next time i am at the track im going to spray off the line too, so hopefully that will get my 2nd gear bogging issues fixed and help the 60 out some...i hope

That's aright though man, don't let lil shit like that get to you.

Bro, you def didn't fail @ all, you almost clicked off an 11 & trapped 116 w/ stock turbo/fmic/intake mani/tb/& stock fuel system. THAT is an achievement.

BUTTTT that run woulda been an 11 though.

You'll get it though, you've only launched a few times on slicks, it takes time to get to know the car.
