Default Waste of space?

Can someone tell me the advantage of an 1/8th mile strip? This forum is dedicated to high HP front drive cars, which loosly translated from latin means "limited traction from launch." I have no clue why anyone would go out of thier way to build an 1/8th mile strip instead of a 1/4 mile strip. HOw about a 1/2 mile or even a full mile, things would get interesting there.

P.S. I'm just bitching, I am in no way trying to take away from the dedication and accomplishments people have for drag racing. And keep stompin' the trailer queen "muscle cars."

I guess if you run true Drag Slicks.... then an 1/8th mile strip is just as good as a 1/4 mile. We take what we can get, but we have 4 different drag strips here in North Texas to choose from.

That is the problem though, it's not like anyone has a selection of tracks to go to. I have to drive over two hours to Epping if I want to run.
