Default So i RACED my first Mopar Stage 1.....

Caliber SRT4 today, mods are as follows:

K&N Drop in filter
Mopar Stage 1
Exhaust Depot Cat delete
Exhaust Depot Muffler Delete
Aeroforce SG

otherwise stock everything else including suspension, wheels and tires. We set pressure to 17psi cold and heated them up. We were supposed to start running at 1pm but i made my first pass near 2pm with a cold car and tires. Now let me tell you guys about this track, first off it is by far the worst track ive been to but its a track none the less. The main "road" is a gravel/paved deal thats maybe 5ft wide, runs directly behind the burn out box and to my surprise is the only "road on the property doubling as the return road. Oh the return road haha well you HAVE to go to end of the track to come down this "road" and i mean down literaly. You go up a slight hill while sweeping left then you crest into a valey where the "road" drops 50-60ft then brings you back up into the pit area. It was quite a scenic trip let me tell ya, anyhow the track prep was crap but it was cold and there was a heavy head wind to ruin the fun. Anyhow my biggest issue was with the weight of this car and also the track surface itself. I would shallow stage yet because of the angle of the surface the car would nearly roll out of the beams so i was forced to side step the brakes while hold rpm just so i wouldnt red light which i still did. So here are the runs:

First pass:

small burn out
staged shallow
revved to 3200rpm

2.222 60ft
5.874 330ft
8.817 1/8ET
85.118 mph

spun wildly in 2nd but no torque steer

Second pass:

small burn out
staged shallow
revved to 3000rpm
car was rolling out of beams

.000 60ft <<---- didnt even register it
4.093 330ft <<---- seems way off
9.188 1/8ET
82.014 mph

spun widly in 2nd, torque steered very violently out of the groove and i bounced off the rev limiter at the top of 2nd

Third pass:

yeah....lets just say hopped/spun/torque steered, missed 3rd and still ran a 9.6 @ 82mph....next!

Fourth pass:

no burn out
shallow staged
revved to 3200rpm
car was still rolling....

.284 reaction <<---- hey look no redlight!
2.250 60ft
5.958 330ft
8.901 1/8ET
84.920 mph

then i had to hand the car back over to its owner cause i had to be at work shortly there after about an hour away. Anyhow i appreciate the opportunity man, the car rides out for what it is and has done. So what did i think? Having driven the car a few day prior on stock pcm there is a noticeable top end difference like literally once i threw it into 3rd the car came alive but i ran out of track. I honestly think the stage 1 is better suited for trips down the 1320 where im sure a car like the one i drove would have an easy time trapping 105-109mph given the right conditions/driver. This was my first time ever drag racing a Caliber SRT4 so im hoping to get more seat time as the mods pile on, i have comfidence with better prep that i can muster an 8.5-8.6 out of it on the stock 19s. Anyhow enough rambling haha

guys please bear in mind this is a full weight car with a few tools in the hatch and misc items in the interior, i would put race weight right around 3400lbs with me in it.

It's better than the gravel track, right? You should have run 8 flat, given the downhill slope at the starting line. Did the Christmas tree have candles on it?

LOL; Palm Beach Int Raceway it isn't! It is old surface and was a 1/4 mile until the cars got to fast to stop on the down hill including my dad's Buick I race there in the 60's.
My son managed to run my Neon with S1,AGP wastegate and slicks with a 8.24 a few years back which got the attention of the local Mustang crowd!
