So I did a compression check on the engine, car was dead cold and also replaced the sparks plugs seeming how they had about 45+k miles on them. Here are the results of the test, then I have a funny story about the freakin' plugs!!!

Cyl. #1.) 155.00
Cyl. #2.) 155.00
Cyl. #3.) 155.00
Cyl. #4.) 152-153.00

I think that s pretty good,no?

Well the story; So first my friend and I were getting the tester all ready and I raced over here to find the "How To", pulled the first plug which was torqued to about 50+lbs and the gap on all plugs were at 58 or more!!!!

So I put the new NGK V-powers in at the recomended .035 and 13lbs of torque, took the car for a little test drive and The car feels 100% different! Now to take next weekend to do a boost leak test. Unless someone near me wants to drop on by to help??

Anyways I did the first recomended test and these are the results, any new insight.

Thanks in advance though. This site has always been a great help and stress relief.

yes those numbers are not bad on the compression. thats good news. and you were lossing power for sure with those plugs. good eye on that to see it. once you do a boost leak test i bet you find mroe leaks and your car will feel fast as fuck. believe me, your running slower than stock. let me know how it goes with that boost leak test.

Well, I do think my stock turbo has seen better days it seems to be leaking oil only on the outside on the exhaust side not the inlet side, so it is going into the shop on Wednesday or Friday for an inspection, but more or less am already seriously considering going a little modded with the E1 turbo.

Will do a boost leak test as soon as I figure out how to manufacture the damn thing. Thanks for the vote of confidence with the compression test. Car has a little over 85k miles on it and is still fun to drive no matter the e.t.'s on the track.

ya with turbo in the hot side you prolly have a bad exhaust seal in there. i would get a fm e1 for something no to crazy but still with potential. i think with your mods you could really get alot out of one. i am going big turbo in the next few weeks. just waiting on the kit from agp.

do a boost leak test. that is the most usual problem with our cars. our turbos are so small that it is very hard for it to keep up with any leak.

instead of doing boost leak test, i zip tied every vacuum line possible and replaced all the stock clamps on the intercooler pipes with t bolt clamps and my boost leak was gone and the car felt way better.

So that brings up the question what you are doing this Saturday? J/k How long did it take you to complete this?

You can build a boost leak tester for about $9 with parts from Home depot/Walmart. It's not hard or time consuming to do. I used to think crap, I don't want to go through this hassle until I did a test on the car one night. I found a few big leaks that I never realized were there and doing the test was easy to do and way quicker than I expected.

To the OP Boost leak test your car! Even with zipties amd tightening clamps you could still have one! Also work on the 60's!

Jonny...take the same advice as above. 13.5psi in the slicks is a little bit high imho, I usually run 10psi in mine, and even on our not so good prepped local track i still cut 1.7s, are you WOT shifting?

Also what boost are you guys running? Do you have anything to monitor knock/timing, wideband? Theres so many different things that can make your cars not run what they should be!
