I appreciate your comments and will do the same in your vendor section from time to time . It gives customers views and opinions from other outside sources. Our experience and opinion differs. We encounter this happening with several cars that were between 485 to 550whp including my car.

Like I've always said to any of our customers.....An SRT-4 engine was designed with 230hp but we all know that it's good for at least twice that power. Anything past that, the weakest link is going to give out. The weakest link could be a number of things including the bedplate. Anything that can be done as preventive maintenance is like insurance. $400 for a strap kit or $1200 block, $500 pistons, $500 rods, destroyed turbo because of metal shavings. Not saying it will crack everytime but it is a strong possibility.

And how long have they been running? How much track abuse have they been through? Whats the torque these motors are making?

I personally would never run a motor over 500wtrq without a strap. Sure there are a few motors that will survive without one, but not with the track abuse we put them through.

This is a proven design. Its very similar to what DCR uses and very similar to what we use.

Good job Rush

yes the o.d. is bigger for if the line bore is off and has to be line honed after the straps are installed

Thats what I was figuring, but some asshat at the machine shop wanted to argue with me, so I figured I would ask, glad I chose to go and get it back before they screwed it up, anyways nice product and I'm gonna put it to good use, I will keep you and Rush up to date on how this turns out, and Rush soon as I get the stickers, I'll give you some free advertising

Hey guys I am not saying anything bad I agree with you guys I got the DCR strap kit on my car.

My question is will your strap be good enough for over 800?

I mean your strap kit is way cheaper than the DCR in price I would not mind getting my second bed plate sent to you guys and done .

It's amazing how a simple post can be interpreted wrong. I apologize for any miscommunication. As for holding over 800hp, I know it will hold 1000hp but I'm a conservative estimator. My cryo treater said that he could tremendously strengthen the kit (studs and straps).

The thing is TK's stuff is priced alot more realistic, for better quality and faster shipping... If Rush gives you a time frame on something, he's right on if not sooner... And their customer service is second to NONE even long after the sale, I have Rush's number and anytime I text him I get an answer with 5 minutes... try that anywhere else...

Hey Bill
I used to say that about the mighty small block bowtie too, Still have a 70 chevelle ragtop and sole my 57 a few years ago when the daughter got married.
But I am impressed with what we can do with this Hals motor wrong wheel drive four door monster. With the stock block and turbo we ran 1.99 @ 114 thats faster then our big block cars back in the day.
With the big turbo we did an 11.25 @123
Cant wait to thrash Rush and niick's build lol Hope it can hold 30 lbs of boost cause thats where we are headed.
Bill We are picking up the motor Saturdat morning. Would like to meet you at the shop if you can be there

After pulling down my last engine I see why I need the strap kit. Looks
like I'll be getting one of these over the winter..

why would it require oversized mains if that it requires a line bore?

in addition, on my machinists end...when i take the block and assembly to him, what does he need to do in order to make the oversized bearings work? machine the journals larger to adapt the mains?

ALSO, what does he need to do on his end to make the coated bearings i bought from you guys work as well? i know the tolerances will be slightly off, so he will need to correct for that, correct?

yes, the shop probably indefinately knows these answers, but i like to hear it from the horses' mouth so that I KNOW what i am getting into.

first off as far as the coated bearings from experience and from calico..... use the same clearances as you would use with no coating.

you need to take complete bare block, crank and oversize bearings to your machine shop. they will need to line bore the block with the straps torqued and grind the crank a few thousanths. any good machine shop will know exactly what to do
