You'll never be able to achieve such a thing. The clearances and tolerances from one bedplate to the next, hell, even from one journal to the next are ALWAYS going to have some small differences. You'd never be able to sell a "one size fits all" strap kit that fits inside the ribs of each journal.

OK, but still, the kit should come with
3 2 hole pieces
2 4 hole pieces
that would block the BS oil passage, and utilize those holes to strenghen it even more. Also when machine the 2 bigger blocks, you could also drill holes for mounting hardware for a windage tray.
I talked to Nick a little while ago and he's gonna chime in on this discussion. Who know, we might all learn something out of this thread We are always looking for a smarter/better/cheaper way to do things.

200? lol.. man i dnt wanna rip apart the motor again for a strap kit.. ugh.. how much if i drive the car there n ya do it
Well with your motor and head build, a Steve Lockett built auto trans,
Our removing the factory A/C and installing a manual steering rack. once it is dialed in with the boost at 30 psi. It should do good lol (I Hope)
why not just keep it going, and make 2 super long ones and machine it for where the 4 bolts from the Balance shafts go?
My only problem with it,
1 price
2 how is machining the curved I beam of the bedplate, and having all the load ride on 2 less then a 1\4" ribs that the whole main support to ride on?
I personally want to see a key wayed main support ribs, and actually fill the rib, so that the load is completely spread evenly. Even if you don't make them KEYED, and machine the ribs. Why not make 2 bigger ones that have 4 bolts in them, and utilize the balance shaft holes?
I personally found that the bedplate isn't a issue for me. I've cracked cylinders, before anything else in the engine let go.
Hi all. Nick's Dad here. I would like to respond to this post since i am the one who actually machines the bedplate.
1.The strap kit is made from 4140 steel and that is not cheap. PERIOD. We think that will hold up to 800 hp at least.
you will not find a finer piece of work cheaper anywhere.
2&3. Refer back to #1. you really want to spend thousands to key the straps when the castings are all over the place .
This is a good piece that WILL do what it was designed for.
Nick and Rush have done all they can do to bring an affordable product to the market . You can take them at thier word as several guys on here can attest to.
Me? Gimme a small block Chevy motor!
Thanks for giving them your buisness. They will make you a happy customer no matter what it takes.
na the price is good.. only thing sucks is shipping coast and redoing the machining again.. well ill see how long this block will hold till it goes boom..
Our strap kit was installed and tested sucsessfully on SIX different engines before we ever decided to release to the public. This is a quality kit and not just something we slapped together overnight.
