so i have an a/s trani and i was wondering how hard a new waste gate (the one that haynes speed shop sells) would be on it. would i be alright installing it or could it wreck my trani?
The number one cause of blown transmissions is infact the wastegate. You will most likely be alright, the one thing I learned quickly is DO NOT BOOST IN 4th GEAR!!! I cannot stress this enough...the overdrive in these transmissions are NOT built to handle the stress of boost. So when you're getting on it on the freeway down shift into 3rd then get on it and don't continue into 4th gear in full boost. My car made 228whp and 293ft.lbs torque when my trans went out at 22K miles. 2300 bucks later for a built tranny and I'm making close to 400whp and no problems YET lol

Sporting new Nikon D40 w/18-55 & 55-200...it's a learning curve that's for sure!
so you had an auto stick trani? i will be alright flooring it as long as im not in 4th gear? so does that mean i should use the auto stick or should i just be aware of what gear my car is in?
When I go to the track, or when I just want performance I always leave it in 3rd not overdrive. I actually have a plane jane auto, no a/s but the only difference is in the wiring...same tranny tho.
so did you have a new waste gate when you blew your trani? would you know when a good point to stop modding for me is?i have a BOV short ram intake msd wires ngk plugs and i want to add 2.5" cat back exhast stage 1 kit and get the plastic mani. do you think that my trani would be safe if i added all of that?
Guys have lost 41TEs on stock everything before...it's not uncommon. Not really a matter of if, more a matter of when the trans is going to fail. Obviously the more mods you throw at it the less life you're going to get out of it. I had Stage 1, intake, exhaust, hardpipes, agp wga, mbc, plugs, wires, and meth when mine went out. My advice would be if you have any kind of warranty, make sure you keep all your stock parts so if/when the trans goes out you can just put the stuff back on. I voided my warranty the first week I got the car so... lol
Sad as it sounds, I JUST got back from the trans shop a few minutes ago after having them fix my UPGRADED trans...so yeah the 41te sucks a big fat one lol

It's a shame that AJ-aka Transman developed the upgraded/re-engineered trans AFTER you got yours done. Oh well, hopefully tomorrow is dry and since it will be cold, I am hoping slow roll then fast times...
Yeah tell me about it...if I would have known about AJ about 8 months sooner I may have went for his trans instead. Then again I'd still be waiting for trans money since it's about an extra 1400 bucks to get his trans and have it installed lol
hey so i am curious about AJ's tranni you guys are talking about. where can i find information about it? i am really worried about my tranni going and wanted to get some ideas about upgraded tranni's.
do a search for tranman on PTCrew.com. That's where you'll find all the info. If you're fairly local to him (LI, NY), he is thinking about putting together a seminar for performance building the 41te.
