i have to admit that i am worried about blowing my tranni and was wondering if there are performance trannis. i have an 04' dream cruiser with the auto stick tranni. what are some options if i were to wreck it? do all my options result in $1000s worth of repair? how high are my risks if i put in the stage 1 kit?

Take it from someone with three trannys to my history,, Stock you are ok,, S1, SHOULD be ok,, anything beyond that,,, start saving. There is a guy doing a high perf 41TE. I have been running his tranny for about 2 years. I currently have the fastest and quickest auto PT that we know of,, the fastest and quickest "stock configuration intake" and only .15 from the fastest. (Which is a heavily customized setup). Hop over to PTCrew.com for the performance PT crowd.
PM me if you want more info on the tranny,, or look for transman over at PTCrew.

For now January 5th I believe is our next track day, although I feel it's going to be too cold to net traction, but atleast I'll be able to make the first big turbo pt cruiser pass on the west coast to see what times to expect. I don't think I've got a chance against you east coasters because mod for mod you guys have always ran better than us but I'm gonna give it a fighting chance! Going in with a 57 trim on 24ish psi with meth and 100 octane jet fuel...we'll see if she's still driving on the 6th lol.

Sporting new Nikon D40 w/18-55 & 55-200...it's a learning curve that's for sure!
so as of currently i have plugs wires k&n intake the plastic mani mopar BOV. i want to put exhaust and the S1. am i at a huge risk? now about this performance 41te is there any prices on it?
Trans is like 3k after the core I want to say. Never talked to AJ, don't intend to so I couldn't give you any more info on it. With basic mods like the ones you have listed, yes you are at a risk, but not much more risk than you were when you were stock. It's when you start upping the boost via a boost controller or especially a wastegate is when you are walking on thin ice. Part throttle boost is the number one killer of 41tes, and you get that from an aftermarket wastegate.
Weakest part of the 41TE is the OD section,,, this is where MOST failures occur.. I know two of mine were the OD,, the last I literally split the OD hub, this was per Robert Vining of the now defunct Power Demon Transmissions.
AJ now has 6 friction and steels in the OD, vs 4 stock, but the changes go much deeper than that.
Well...I got 5 in mine so I guess I'm somewhere in the middle lol. My OD was actually perfect when my stocker blew up. One of the few who can say that about their broken stock trannies
To the OP. Staying out of boost in 4th(OD) will help prolong your impending tranny doom. Start setting aside a tranny fund.
A&A Motorsports 41te $2700 installed by the man himself

Not trying to high jack the thread, but have a trans question. I just traded my SRT for a 04 PT GT w/autostick, is a slight whine normal on the 41te, especially in 4th on the drive side of the gears? I did get the 7/70 warenty transfered so I hope if the trans does take a dump, it will be covered.
I've never heard any kind of whining from mine other than the fuel pump...take the pt out and beat the hell out of it to see if you can break it and get it replaced lol. Just go on the freeway and leave it in fourth and smash it a lit...quickest way to blow it up haha
LOL, I might do that. I have to go to the dealer anyway to see if they will replace the gasket between the upper and lower intake, it seems to be leaking.
That's a 5 minute fix. I'm missing almost 1/4 of my intake manifold gasket at the moment, just too cheap to replace it lol. Loosen the clamp on the charge pipe right where it connects to the thottle body. Next, remove the 5-10mm bolts that hold the two manifold peices down. You can pick up on the intake manifold, and grab yourself a screwdriver (straight blade) and prop the intake manifold up in the air. Put the handle of the screwdriver against the 2.4 turbo emblem on the valve cover and the straight blade end inside the intented circular portion on the bottom of the upper intake manifold. Then grab yourself some plane jane gasket maker (the ugly brownish rust colored stuff) and run a 1/4" bead all the way around the ports and I also run a ring around the bolt holes just for good measure. Slap the gasket back on, then do the same thing ontop of the gasket. Pull out your screwdriver and push down the manifold and put your bolts back in. I don't know what the torque measurment is, I just make it as tight as it came off. Then tighten up your charge pipe clamp and you're good to go. In the time it took me to type this, it can be done on the car
