Default Need some help from the GT owners

I am currectly working on taking my '03 Sebring convertible w/ the 2.4 DOHC and turboing it. I have hit a stumbling block along the way which is the ECM. Obiviously a stock ECM isn't going to work w/ a turbo, the SRT-4 one won't work either (no tranny plug) and going w/ a stand alone is big money. Then it dawned on me, the GT Cruiser has the same tranny and a turbo on it factory.

So what I am looking for is the pin out on a GT Crusier ECM to see if it will work or not. I was hoping one of you fine members could hook me up or point me in the right direction. I can't really go any farther w/ this project until I get it figured it out.

He's out of town still I believe. I'm waiting for him to compare the pin-outs too, 'cause I'm doing pretty much the same thing, only using slightly different parts. I think he said he's going to get to this when he gets back to his home this weekend.

Yes it's the same transmission. I think brngrhd is right. On the 2nd Gen Stratus/Sebring Sedans (01-06), Autostick was only an option for the cars that came with the 2.7L V6. However, if you swapped out the instrument cluster and the shifter on a 2.4L with one from a 2.7L, you could have autostick on your 2.4L and it works just fine. I haven't done it myself yet, but a lot of people over on 2gss.org have.

Yes, the transmission is the same. The autostick function is in the cluster. Get an autostick cluster, shifter and a small harness and you can turn a non autostick into autostick.

I compared the two pin outs. They are very similar. Enough so that I think it will work. There are 4-5 pins in differant spots, but I believe some wire swapping will take care of that. I just need to do some checking before I go out a get a GT ECM.

My next question is how do I get around the fact that when you order a S1 ECM you need the last 6 of the VIN. Is that tied into somekind of data base that checks if the VIN matches a GT or will any VIN work.

They check the VIN. You can probably set the new VIN to a used PCM if you get the car's PIN and have access to a DRBIII or someone who has a DRBIII.

My local dealer is good to me so access to a DRBIII is not a problem. If I were to get my hands on say a used Stage 1 ECU, what would info would I need to go along with the ECU from the origianal car?

Well the ECU is ending up in a Sebring, not a PT Cruiser... so... yeah... is that going to work?

If you have access to the DRBIII, then yeah, you're 'brings VIN and PIN should be all you need, IF, the PT PCM will accept them. I don't know how much is programmed in as far as looking for check digits to make sure that a PT VIN is being programmed. It may be that only PT VIN's are allowed. I don't know anyone familiar enough with the programming to ask. You could try Stephanie at Flight Systems, just to she if she can give you info. I know she'll tell you they won't do it, but that's different from they CAN'T do it, ya know? Other than that, just give it a try..... Let us know how it goes!

If not, it's EMS time, and that's a chunk o' money!
