The Mopar STS is what was used in the PT Cruiser as a stock shifter; it just has a longer rod in the PT because of the different seating height. You will only gain a lower rod height if you swap the PT stocker for the Mopar.
Not sure if I understand your above statement that you have an extra Maddog STS? or, did you mean an extra Mopar STS?
Either way, I'll be making an STS for the PT, if he'd be interested in one. The first prototype will be shipping out this coming week for testing; I can let you know how it goes (I don't forsee an problems).

Chuck, be sure to mention that your talking about the non turbo PT, since the turbo PT has an entirely different trans and shift pattern. Im still trying to locate a stock turbo shifter to give you you

Bill, do me a favor, and check your stock assembly. I'm pretty sure they're the same.

from the top it looks the same. It has that spacer plate like the mopar short shifter. Like I told you before, you really gotta jam the shifter over toward the drivers side to get it to go into reverse, I suppose that tension could be on the trans end, but I dont really know. It would be great news if they are interchangeable though!

How much do your shifter go for nowadays? Perhaps ill take a chance and pick one up.
