Default Modding 2004 PT GT 5spd

I gotta get more speed out of this heavy car/truck/van(?), 3500 lb.s with 3/4 tank & me. It has run a best of 14.6@97 and I want at least low 13's. Present mods are: plastic manifold, air box mods with K&N, hardpipes, and suspension.
Anyway; thinking of SST plus intimidator manifold, 3" turbo back, 55 mm TB. How high could I boost without fuel mods, or would I need FPR mod or return fuel line? I would like to tune with SCT, seems a logical way to go if I can get hooked up with a vendor doing this. And what about cams, crane 16's; good or bad idea-anybody running these? Maybe meth inj as well since we have to run a small stock i/c. Give me your thots

You've got some good starter mods, but there's still lots more to go until you can shave over 1 1/2 seconds off your ride. Your 97mph trap speed should be good for a 14.2-14.3 so it sounds like your suspension is right, but you're losing a couple tenths off the line. My guess would be a 2.0 60 foot time if I had to guess. I wouldn't worry about cams/gears just yet, plenty of stuff can be done before then. I really couldn't tell you how much boost you could run on stock injectors with the SST turbo, I skipped playing with the stocker and just went 57 trim on my PT. First things first, grab up a wideband if you're going to be playing with fuel and boost. Secondly, stage 2 injectors and a walbro fuel pump should be able to handle what that SST can throw at it. I don't think you are in the returnline territory with that particular turbo. Do NOT put a fuel mod in your car unless you feel like replacing the pump every 20k or so. The added stress on the pump wears it out at a much quicker rate than stock psi. Have fun with the SCT...some people like it, some don't. I don't feel it's completely necessary just yet, I'm doing just fine controlling mine with a returnline and an safc. Meth injection is a very good idea, without changing anything I made to passes on the dyno, one with meth off and one with meth on. I did meth off just to make sure the engine was nice and warm for my comparrison. My results...I picked up 24whp and 36ft.lbs of torque with just a flip of a switch...no tuning no nothing, just turned the meth on. I run 100% meth on my car, it didn't seem to like anything else and it really came alive once I put 100% in there.

Just do a lot of research on mods you want to use. Turbo efficiency, fuel mods, fuel controllers, ect ect ect. I was running at 30deg of advance at 15psi of boost,,, NOT GOOD,, got it under control with the SCT tuner,, now much safer. My car ran a 12.12 @ 115 at 21psi of boost,, untuned. Will get the car dialed in this spring.

Yes, I do like what I'm hearing about meth injection; but you're the first that I've heard about danger of fuel mods, as most srt4 are doing them- I thot our pumps don't run at the proper voltage from the factory?
Wideband will go in with the new exhaust. I guess biggest question will be do I have to stay at stock boost without piggyback or fuel mods, or how high can boost go safely.
Presently I'm getting 2.2's 60 foots , which I don't feel is too bad with stock 205 goodyear RSA's. I am going to 225's as soon as I can find some new rims I like.

you'll run out of fuel when you're spiking 18... won't have much room to play with...

the above is good advice.

actually you don't run out of fuel by spiking 18 but you might as well if you don't have a clamp or afc to hide the boost with, because either way you're going to hit a brick wall when timing gets pulled. I've spiked as high as 20-21 on a bone stock fuel system without problems. It's not where you spike that matters, it's where you hold

Been trying to read up on a lot of stuff, and it looks like with an upgraded turbo(even SST), that more fuel will be needed for anything more than stock boost. So now I'm wondering if a rewire will be enuf or a pump maybe needed as well; but I don't want to go overboard on fuel or I will need a piggyback to pull some out. Whew, so much to learn.

Stage 2 injectors, pump, no rewire. You'll be set.

On my 5 speed I am running a Keeny Bell Boost-a-pump with a stock turbo to keep enough fuel in it under 23 pounds of boost. You should spend a little to get some dyno numbers and air/fuel ratios before you go any further. My auto runs pig rich but my 5 speed ran lean. I got lucky in doing a dyno tune before running it real hard.

Water injection is on my to do list.....

I told ya I was...

Besides, there are no trolls hangin out here that are after me.

I just need to cotnact AMX to get a 45 degree connector pipe and cut the upper charge pipe so the VAK2 will clear the tranmission. Then drill and install a water injection nozzle. Sleeping Beauty will then be even more of a sleeper.

We can build you one of those for the price it would cost to have a FREE pipe shipped out here...plenty of options. Lol, you oughta see what I'm working on right now with my fuel returnline...if I can pull this off, I'm pretty sure I can make a pipe fit the 5 speed
