Post Leaking ATF on 5 speed....

For those that have heard, I took out the 5 speed to the NASA Cali event last weekend and after the second session she was barfing ATF pretty bad. I finally have time tonight to check out the fluid levels. Engine oil was fine and the power steering levels were okay. I do remember seeing ATF pour out the breather of the transmission.
I have yet to check the fluid level of the trans, but assuming that this is not overfilled, then...
Have I burned up a tranny?
Discuss.

So it was ATF and not oil then? Kinda had me worried when you said it was leaking worse right after we installed that oil sending unit. I'm wondering if maybe that's a seal kind of thing, not a toasted trans kind of thing?

Yeah, it was knida hard to tell at first. Thankfullywe had cleaned up the bottom quite a bit and you could clearly see the red color of the ATF all over the lower charge pipe.
When I opened the hood I saw ATF running out of the breather, so that is what really has me concerned. Usually one of two things has happened:
1. Overfill-possible, but I am not sure.
2. Burnt bearing that is severly overheating the ATF and boiling it out. I am really thinking it could be this if #1 doesn't pan out.
3. Bonus-bad check-valve/breather? Dunno.....

there's is no breather on the tranny, only a full rubber plug on the driverside of the tranny. If that's gone and it's puking out from there, you need a fresh fluid change, new rubber plug for the hole, and a bottle of friction modifier, should be good to go after that.

I looked again at their is a breather listed on the parts chart under the diagram #7. This is a PT with the Getrag 288 tranny, so maybe you are thinking of the SRT4 tranny?
