Question 2 questions: Stage 1 and no LSD?????

Ok like the title says, just thought I'd ask some question cause the pt section is looking pretty plain.........

-My first question is stupid but I can't find a real answer if I'm buying a stage 1 ecu does it have to be for an 06 which is what I have or can it be from any other years and does it make a difference if its an auto or manual one?

-Second is why in hell did chrysler not put LSD in the PT cause I could realy use it sometimes spinning in 1st and 2nd is really getting old and I'm not that modded at all, was it just because they were being cheap or for some other reason?

For the PT, you must have the specific S1 for your year/transmission, otherwise, Flight Systems won't program them and Mopar won't sell them to ya. Now, for a used S1 from another PT, I guess if you had a dealer source that could flash the VIN's you could try it.... As for the LSD, your guess is as good as mine, they just didn't develop one for the 41te autostick or the Getrag 5 speed (probably due to cheapness, and fragility of the 41te, which is in most PT's). There are aftermarket units available from Quaife or Phantom Grip, depending on your trans, and a built autostick is also available (with or without LSD, good to 4-500 hp)... We turbo PT'ers learn to develop launch techniques really quick, or your stop light race goes up in smoke

Yea Its hard to race from a dig, and I have a manual so I can ride the clutch I'd hate to have an auto, and for the stage 1 I'd like to find a used one. Does anyone know of some good places to find one or maybe cheap places for a new one possably under $400 would be a nice start? LOL...........

I've seen a couple staged computers floating around on ebay, but none for the 06s. BTW the phantom grip #904 gold makes a world of difference

On a manual: do it right, do it once !

Get the Quaife.

It's more expensive right out but how many times do you want to pull that very tough tranny from your car ?

When my car spins in a straight line it always lays down two stripes, so a lsd would not make a big difference there. But when it's on the road course, I have to corner with a late apex or inside wheel spin owns me

Same here. A buddy was behind me at Buttonwillow and through the buttonhook turn he could see me smoking the front inner everytime....

has a LSD insert and when power is applied in a turn it pushes the car to the outside as both wheels want to turn equally

Try keeping full boost on when on a corner at say, Buttonwillow. No boost or low boost and the PT dogs through. Full boost and dem tires smoke..
Hell, I can't even step on it rolling at 30 in second gear because I immediately light them up. of course it is quite fun......

You need a low boost setting since the turbo spools too fast and overpowers the tires. I wish I had the money to try one of those electronic controllers that you can set boost by gear and rpm or have the boost slowly ramp up instead of too much instant torque.
