Default Speedometer

Sorry if this was covered once before, but where does the speedometer reading come from? Just curious if the speed reading will "top out".

It comes from the PCM which get's it from the either the trans or one of the front wheel speed sensors. I think it's scaled to read up to 255 mph. I have not heard of it topping out below that from anyone.

Ok thanks for the answer. I dont plan on breakin the landspeed record or anything, just curious for those who have EMS or increased rev-limits if they have read speeds at 160+mph. Saw a video of a car hit 150mph in 4th gear, so just wondered if it was possible to read a higher speed than 160mph. Thanks

Yea thats why im curious if the scangauge will give you the actual speed. Im about to have a fully built motor, tranny, and EMS. Might just wanna see what an 8k rpm rev will stretch the speedo too
