Default Problem with the gauge turning off

I just got my gauge installed today, but it seems to have a problem. Once the car is turned on, it flashes like it should and then goes to the first 2 settings to display. They show no values, then the gauge reboots. This cycle continues until I turn the car off or unplug the OBDII port. I initially thought it might have to do with having wrong parameters set...but I have set them according to the tech section of aeroforcetech and am sure the correct parameters are set. In fact, I even set the only ones to RPM and MPH and it still did the same thing.

As a side note, I have installe an oil pressure sensor kit to connect with the gauge, though I haven't been able to get any readings from anything yet.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

have you tried 1 of 2 obvious things to narrow down the problem

1) Try running it w/o the additional sensor wired into it and see if it works

2) Have you tried the gauge in another vehicle

Just a thought...

this has been a problem on a number of cars.
Jay and I talked about it a bit and came up with some interesting ideas as to why. Trouble is I don't remember exactly what was decided.
something about the bus being polled causing the gauge to go active or something like that.

I tried it without the sensor...but though these were car-specific gauges (even though they are simply OBDII ports), so I never tried it on another car. I can try that in the morning.

Thanks

As soon as I get around to reinstalling my gauge I'll be testing some options, specifically how to kill all power to the gauge when the key is off (which currently does NOT happen because the ODB2 port always has power, which the gauge draws off of.)

I tried removing the analog harness to see if the oil harness was the problem, and it made no difference.

Any other suggestions?
I am still waiting to hear back from aeroforce.

Just tried the gauge in a friend's car and got the same problems. Therefore, it isn't a localized problem. As such, I'm sure that the gauge is bad.

Does anyone have a number for aeroforce? I can only get ahold of them through e-mail and I need to get a new gauge ASAP.

Thanks

You talked to Pat at service@aeroforcetech.com right? Have you sent it in? I think we programmed some gauges wrong a couple weeks ago and yours was one of them. This is the symptom. It just needs a reflash.

Todd,

Yes, I sent it in. I shipped it Thursday and I am located within an hour of you guys, so it should have been there Saturday, definitely today. As long as the problem is fixable, that's fine with me...just wanted to make sure my application wasn't some anomole that would prevent me from using your gauge at all.

When do you think I will be getting it back? Pat assumed it would be before the end of the week.

Thanks

I just learned that this was a Ford gauge, not a Chrysler. We knew of a programming error that occurred in a dozen or so Ford FD gauges last month, but there are no issues with the SR gauges. This freaked me out when I first read it but false alarm.
