In the next month or so we'll have offer a new Interceptor gauge called the "Pro Version" for the SRT-4 and PT Cruiser. You'll be able to upgrade older versions to this if you'd like, for the difference in price between the two, so those who've already ordered will not miss out if they want the new features.
Basically we've been able to add many more parameters. These are:
1. Ambient air temperature - temperature at the air box/filter. There are many uses for this information including determining how well your CAI functions as as well as the intercooler.
2. Exhaust temp. - this is a parameter calculated by the PCM which should be very useful, acting like an EGT sensor. I am installing an EGT sensor on my car to correlate the numbers. If anyone has knowledge of this parameter, I'd like to hear from you to better understand how it is calculated. On my car it ranges from 1100 at cruise to 1690 deg. F at WOT near redline. With some testing and validation with an EGT sensor, it should be a very valuable tuning aid.
3. Base timing - spark advance before adjustments due to temperatures, knock, etc.
4. spark adjust - amount of spark timing removed/added due to temperature, knock, etc.
5. Wastegate solenoid duty cycle - once PCM tuning software is available, this will be a parameter to watch to see what the wg/turbo is capable of delivering as well as how developing a tune for a certain boost level.
6. battery voltage at the PCM -
7. fuel level - reads the output of the fuel sender in gallons, e.g., 0.0 -12.5 gal.
8. barometric pressure - ambient pressure. We'll use this to zero out the MAP reading without requiring any ususual steps by the user.
9. throttle position sensor voltage
10. Air flow rate - calculated by the PCM, the amount of air in lbs/min the engine is ingesting. This may be altered by MAP clamps, we're looking into this. This parameter seems pretty accurate and can used to accurately estimate fuel economy, unlike other devices that can only provide rough estimates of fuel economy. This can also be used to calculate hp at the flywheel.
11. Fuel temperature at the fuel rail
12. Throttle inlet pressure - pressure at the throttle body
13. MPG - fuel economy - both instantaneous and average.
These parameters will be available on top of what is already shown on the standard gauge, for a total of about 23 parameters. This should be just about everything you'd need to propery monitor and tune your SRT-4.
This gauge will cost around $30 more than the standard.
awesome. i was hoping to see a few more fuel parameters like whats left in our motorhome gas tank and MPG. I felt a lil left out when i saw in the booklet how GM and ford get all the fun.

I love the 2 I have so you know I will be sending them back when these new ones are ready!
Same color options? What are all the color options? for display is there blue on black?

"The Cobalt firmly grabs you and whisks you along your way instantly. It does so with authority and poise, but while slipping relatively unnoticed through traffic, never being violent, or dare I say it, frightening. When you ask the SRT-4 to take you somewhere fast, it punches you in the face, throws you over its shoulder, and runs, screaming, so quickly that its tires can barely keep up."
These Pro versions will be the same hardware, just programmed differently so color options will be the same.
I talked to Aaron at Real Tune, and we've decided to also add raw knock sensor voltage - I guess this is valuable for tuners, more so than knock retard.
We're also adding:
-Engine run time - basically a trip timer
-Throttle inlet pressure
We're using the factory calculated air flow rate to calculate fuel economy, so this figure will be more accurate than other scan guage devices that estimate fuel economy by making assumptions and estimates to determine flow rate in the calculation.
One more bit of good news, we'll shortly have a unit that works with the AEM stand-alone sytems. It will be able to display just about all of the parameters listed for the Pro and standard version. The AEM unit does not use some of these parameters, and we're not sure yet if we can get them out of the controller. The only two Aaron and I could not see properly were ambient air temp and intake air temp. It's possible that IAT sensor was bad in the car, or that the AEM just doesn't broadcast it the same as the DCX PCM. I think everything else was there though.
That sounds cool. So I could send you the one that I already bought and upgrade for 30$?? Also if I did this could I upgrade to the new gauge and add a second one?? If so what would be the total for the upgrade and the 2nd gauge?
