Default Barometer readings

Is the Barometer reading displayed on the gauge accurate? If so what sensor is it getting its signal from?

Reason i ask is that i have a 14.5 displayed at all times for the barometer reading...

From what I understand the PCM takes a quick read from the MAP sensor before the engine fires up and stores this as the barometric reading. It's not dead on but from what I recall it's in the ballpark.

nop it take the value from the tip at start and from time to time while driving
14.5 is normal the pressure doesn`t change much unless you go up an big hill or something

but you can correlate value with the map value

switch on engine off, check pressure value it should be at 0 or very near
if not then it`s the difference in map and tip signal

Thanks for clarifying that.
