I know this has been dead horsed to death, but I made my weekly call to the Chrysler customer service number and asked if I was still in D status. As I have posted before, I have been in D status since January 15th. I was told that I was still there and they had no idea when it would change. She also told me that the information she gave me was as of the last update from January 30th. Sounds a little fishy to me. I thought updates were daily. I also asked the customer service if she could tell me anything more and she said that the status was all they had and nothing more. My wife is trying to talk me into getting my deposit back and buying a Lexus RX 350 which just came out. You see I sold my Lightning last month thinking this would take less time than it has. If I didn't have a work car, I'd be screwed. This Jeep better get here quick or I'll be driving a Lexus if my wife has anything to say.
Cancel your order ASAP and go buy a GC SRT8 at a dealership. Contrary to popular belief, they really aren't that hard to find. Go to the Jeep website and do a dealer inventory search using your zip code. Might take you and hour or two but your sure to find what your looking for. At least that's what I did. I had two deposits on two different SRT's, one black and one red, but grew sick of the wait. The same day I convinced myself to wait no longer I found one at MSRP in Maryland, and was subsequently driving it two days later.
I would take a Jeep over a Lexus any day, I just prefer a vehicle that is easier to work on as well as cheaper on parts. I am sure that some dealership has to have one sitting in their showroom, I think there are 2 at the one near me. Very nice vehicle but I think most people shopping for a SUV have no idea what it is, or at least in my area they do not. I have seen one on the roads, and a few with dealer tags being driven by managers, so it seems they are not moving that fast. Shop around, you will find one.

"The Cobalt firmly grabs you and whisks you along your way instantly. It does so with authority and poise, but while slipping relatively unnoticed through traffic, never being violent, or dare I say it, frightening. When you ask the SRT-4 to take you somewhere fast, it punches you in the face, throws you over its shoulder, and runs, screaming, so quickly that its tires can barely keep up."
the RX350 is a very competent bland box....she'd love it but you on the other hand would prolly fall asleep at the wheel.....the excitement just isnt there on the male level but females sure do love the leather seating, smooth ride, tomblike quietness and easy visibility. I say stick to the jeep cause you just never know when you'll get another chance/opportunity to own a piece of Jeep/DCX history
At least the RX350 is a Lexus. Every other vehicle they build is simply a blatant knock-off of an MB, except for their Toyota, "LX470". They have from the beginning let MB do the research & establish a market niche then they create a copy, often nearly a duplicate externally. Therefore, while I appreciate their build quality, I have no respect for their approach.
My wife also wants a new ES 350 Lexus her leeae is up on her 2002 ES 300, I have the GC SRT 8 and I want her to lease a 300 C Chrsler 5.7 I think the 300 is a better car

haha i laugh at you for that comment. Having worked for a Lexus dealership for 3+ years i can assure you none of the cars they make are "copies". Before you spout off baseless coments looks at the models and their history...i know which car you are making refference to...the LS series. On that note you should take a look at all the version of this car since 1989...each is an evolution of the prior revision. The 2001 version while mopst say looks like an S class is merely an enlarged and redesigned LS...the new LS....is gorgeous in comparison to any CRAP benz could muster up. The only thing benz has on Lexus is the fact they serve up far tastier versions of it car while Toyota is slowy getting there.....LS460 Short , LS460 Long to compete against the non AMG S class sand the LS- Hybrid to compete against the AMG S class.
Lexus as of 2001 took a new design direction and right now they are putting the finishing touches on their latest evolution...the L finess. The SC430 and ES series kicked this off but are now being joined by the new GS, new IS, new LS and eventually the RX, LX, GX and the sports car will follow....
its good times at Toyota/Lexus.....trust me aint nothing BMW or Benz can put out to stop the momentum.
Now you mention that they copy.....why is it that when the RX300 came out...which by the way became the best selling vehicle in Lexus history...BVenz and every other carmaker rushed to build a competitor. I mean i surely hope you wouldnt think to call the 1st ge ML class a competitor to the RX....i mean Jeep Wranglers are better made and mora durable than one of those . Another example, while benz did start putting a hardtop vert on the SLK in the 90s it was Lexus who introduced the concept of a hardtop luxury convertible.....then benz followed suit. Ahh and Lexus was the first with a large Luxury suv when it introduced the LX series.....it took years before Benz got the clue....Caddi and Lincoln were quick on their feet in comparison.
im no longer with Lexus but can assure you all....you guys aint seen nothin yet
remember back in 86 when Toyota announced its intentions to spinn off a new luxury brand the whole world laughed. Here we are 20 years later and Toyota has put its luxury division at the top of sales, reliability, intial quality and customer satisfaction ratings where ever sold. Actually up until a few months ago the dream of making the brand a world one came to fruit when toyota launched it in Japan. Lexus IS now firmly its own entity within toyota, it has its own design studios, own dealership network, manufacturing facilities and most importantly its now sold world wide as Lexus and will no longer use rebadged toyotas...

After re-reading my above post & then reading NeonDan's response carefully I realize my initial post is right on the money. Lexus vehicles are by and large good quality MB knock-offs.
I can't speak out against any other makes, but I'm on Lexus #3 (all GS models: 98, 01, and 06) and I have never had any problems at all. I just hate the freakin' expensive services. As long as the wife is happy, I'm happy.
