Granted i'm not an SRT8 guy...but i will say that ...the GCSRT8 is not as capable as the Cayenne off-road. In almost every article i read about the GCSRT8, they say how strange it is having a jeep that is somewhat useless offroad. The Cayenne S/Turbo/Turbo S comes with adjustable air suspension (extra on Cayenne S) The suspension can be raised over 10 inches, where the jeep is at a mere 7.5 inches of ground clearance. The air suspension also allows the Cayenne's to drop to 7.5 inches. But then again....thats the whole thinking behind the SRT8....it's a beast on the road and makes all the bigger more expensive germans scared at stoplights. It does its job well!! I give mad props to DaimlerChrysler!!
Jeep has been the king offroad for years in the world of SUV's.. Now they are trying to take the regular roads. When all is said and done 90% of Cayenne owners will never see offroad anyway. Especially with a 100K price tag. I say more power to Diamler Chrysler as well.
The GC Overland is superior to the Cayenne off-road. the GC SRT-8 is superior to the Cay TT onthe road. If you need both the Cay TT is a good choice, it is a technological masterpiece, even if it's totally awkward in appearance. Not 1 in 10,000 Cay TT's will ever go anyplace that will pose a problem for a GC SRT-8, or for a Mazda Miata as far as that goes. And you can buy both Jeeps with cash left over to get that Miata for the price of the Cay TT-S.
The GC was superior on road...not since the newest Cayenne came out though. That is my point. Here is a Jeep being beaten off road by a Porsche and a Porsche being where it should be on the road, ahead of the Jeep again. Yeah the price will keep most anyone from using it off road, but damn it's nice! Talk about best of both worlds.

The performance results posted by the Cay TT S thus far are still behind the GC SRT-8. That is my point.

BTW...The only actual test results I've seen for the CayTT-S are from Auto Express UK. They posted a 5.2 0-60 time.
They all say 4.8 seconds to 60 and a top speed around 170mph. Not incredibly faster than the GC but then when they go offroad....I'd say Porsche didn't like Jeep coming into their realm so they went into Jeep's.

Yes, I know which Porsche you are talking about, sheesh. Did my continual reference to a CayTT-S not make that clear. All of the sources you have listed are using the time provided by Porsche as the expected 0-60 time. The source I quoted actually drove the vehicle & timed the CayTT-S & got a 5.2 to 60 time. And if you use the 4.8 time you mentioned, Car & Driver's test of the GC SRT-8 netted a 4.7 0-60 time. So the GC SRT-8 isn't taking a back seat to the CayTT-S even @ 4.8 from 0-60.
HCCA fan is correct....The Cayenne Turbo S....has surpassed the SRT-8 as the fastest SUV available ..it will achieve a 4.8 0-60 with no problem regardless of whatever you read......not to mention....if you go to edmunds.com they say they could only get a 5.2 out of the GCSRT-8 so you cant always bank on what the "experts" say. Also as regards to the GC Overland being better offroad than the Cayenne, In my family we have a 04GC Overland 4.7HO and an 05 GC Limited 5.7...i have driven both on and off road and the ground clearance is still a major issue....these GC's are at 8.5 while the Cayenne can achieve 10.2 .....when combined with front and rear locking differentials....the Cayenne clearly has the advantage.....Also...its not like the Jeep SRT8 is killing the CTT or CTTS in performance numbers.....we are talking about tenths of a second...and the cayenne clearly has the advantage at higher speeds....Dont get me wrong...i love the SRT8... but when it comes down to it.....it goes a lil something like this CTT-S > CTT > SRT8 > TBSS> You cant only take performance as a factor....the fact that the CTT/S can do way more things than the Jeep makes it a better vehicle....not to mention how bland the jeep's interior is and the fact that its got no status appeal. Here's a quick example for yea.....if i cant find a parking space...i can make my own.....

To be completely honest with you I'd prefer to have the CTT-S, but there is no way in hell I'd dish out that kind of cash for a vehicle I'd
eventually have to park in a Wal-Mart parking lot or drive on a construction site.
For me it really boiled down to how much money I was comfortable spending on a vechicle that would eventually be left unprotected in real-world situations. So, for me, I can't justify that kind of money and the accompanying care/concern it would require.
So, CayenneTurbo550, what's your favorite suv color?
