Default SRT-Wrangler / Rubicon

I copied this from a Jeep JK (new '07 Wrangler) forum, I don't know if this is the best place for this, but here you go >move if needed

The major complaint with the new Wrangler is the the 3.8L Caravan based engine that it uses, 220hp and 240lbs tq just dosen't have the guts the four wheelers out there need, they add alot of heavy gear, big tires etc. to an already heavy Jeep

It would be nice if the guys who did the SRT Grand Cherokee did a special edition Wrangler, like a pumped up Rubicon

I know SRT stands for Street Racing Technolgy (I think) but who would of thought the GC SRT would ever exist, this is one bad all wheel drive Jeep! (for the street)

If we can't get a (normal production) more powerful JK for a while then SRT could help with a limited production (off-road) model

a realistic dream SRT RUBICON could be:

-More torque and hp. (supercharged V6, small V8 or the 5.7 Hemi)
"we need closer to 300 hp & torque for a 4000+lb Jeep"
-HD 6 speed manual or HD 5 speed Auto
-HD axle shafts and joints in D-44's
-HD drive shafts with true double cardin Joints
-lower gear ratios
-Mild lift
-35" tires
-Factory bead lock rims
-complete roll bar "front cage"
-Real bumpers
-better skids
-Winch
-on board air supply

if some of above are set as options a great price point would be about $33,000

we need to do a letter writing campain to get DCX to do something as the current 3.8 is not cutting it for alot of us

factory bead locks isn't gonna happen, neither is on board air, but the rubicon is pretty bitchin. maybe just put all that shit in a rubicon, and offer the bead locks, 35's, and lift as dealer installed factory options.

:edit: won't happen because of dot regs and rollover.

35inch tires will never happen, the majority of car manufacturers are going with big wheels and smaller tires to attract the younger crowd, i mean look at the nitro, its a smaller suv and has 20's wrapped in like tires with a side wall of 40-45

also SRT stands for Street & Race Technology, so if you want an "OFFROAD" version of the wrangler, why would they want anything to do with it, you can't race a HUGE 4x4 except in the mud. I see SRT taking no intrest at ALL in this.

they needed something to replace the 4.0l, that motor lasts to long 300-400 thousand miles is no problem if taken care of....look for a 100k if your lucky lifespan for the 3.8l....
