Problems with 2003!! Please Help

I have a 2003 jeep grand cherokee i just got last week. I am hearing a slight knocking sound from the rear end. The salesmen thaught it was a fuel pump and was going to have it fixed. It went to the shop and they said it was an emmisions pump and the noise was "Normal" I have test drove quite a few of these and never heard this "Normal" sound. But then my check engine light came on and the code was P0455 which was a large leak in the emmisions. Could this be the pump the said was normal? Please help

I don't know about the knocking noise, but if there's a leak it may be a cracked hose at the leak pump in the left rear end behind the bumper. Easy to access...4 13mm's hold the assembly up. Take it down and check, easy to see if cracked. They crack right on the inlet to the pump.

The leak detection pump could be bad. I would disconnect the wiring too it and see if it quits. you will set another evap code. And yes, if the diapragm in that pump goes bad, it will post a code as a leak since it will not be able to pressurize the system.
