Jeep SRT-8 on a diet,,,,,,,Idea!!!

So I was wondering the other day. If this jeep srt-8 isnt meant for off road use, like the rest of the jeep lineup.of course.

Wounldt it be nice if Jeep put this thing on a diet. Perhaps make it a more street/track friendly performance vehicle?

4800lbs is kinda alot,,,,, 4100 would be nice.

Take the whole powerhouse SUV thing they have going to a whole new level.

You can forget about more power, loose 500-600lbs. Well maybe 400?

What are your thoughts on this? A light weight Jeep srt-8

It's all about playing to the majority. Most people aren't willing to give up the luxury in todays rides to save that weight. It would be cool if there was an option for it though, but the number ordered would be so low it wouldn't be worth if from a manufacturer's viewpoint.

Yeah then you lose the noise reduction and stuff like that. Then it becomes an expensive srt-4. (Not that the srt-4 is bad) Just noisy and loud.

I wonder how much the SRT Option Group 1, Nav and Info options weigh. I'm sure it's considerable amounts of weight and almost everyone is getting their SRT8 "loaded"...

I would be interested to see the curb weight of a bone stock no optioned SRT8 compared to "loaded" dual climate A/C, Sunroof, extra airbags, park sense system, rain sensor, smart beam system, Navigation, rear DVD player, rear overhead LCD console, power memory seats, heating elements in the front seats, clip on pedals, and throw in a few ounces for the navigation DVD.

Don't forget, you can do what the hard core import guys do to their Civics and Integras. Take out the back seat, front passenger seat, floor lining, airbags, dashes... But don't forget to put in the roll cage.

I bet there are a lot of easy ways to reduce significant pounds with out getting to radical. Like a lighter battery. Or a custom exhaust. I think other people may have some good ideas as well.

When I get mine (this summer), I am definitely going to look into this. It helps acceleration and fuel economy!
