Default Hows the tranny

I'll get straight to the point. How do you guys like the tranny on this Jeep. I usually prefer a manual but am thinking of making the jump to be able drive this animal. I went ahead and got rid of that other post for you..

Well in manual mode, there is atleast a full seccond delay from when you tell it to shift, and it actually shitfs, or hits the revlimiter. Also with teh three different settings in the torque converter, unless you give it full throttle, you never really know which one your going to get lol. It may gently lock up or it might hit real firm. The shifts could be more firm, but they are not sloppy in my oppinion. The one thing that I do dislike, and the most is that there is no fluid dipstick, the tube is just plugged off, and there is a tool that currently only is available to dealerships, that your dealer sticks down in there to check the fluid levels...freak

Sounds about right for an auto. Are these tranny's at all adaptive? I know with some trannys the shift pattrens adapt to the driver after some time and a reset on the ECU can lead to more performance in some cases. I guess that the autostick is just something that you have to get used to. Which are you better off using lets say on a track or in a drag race the autostick or just let it do what it wants in auto mode.

Actually by leaving it in auto, threw 1st gear it shifts perfectly at 6200rpm. threw the rest of the gears is another story though lol. For the track your deffinately better using the manual setting. As far as your other questions I dont have an answer for you at this time lol. Maybe some of the other members can chime in and help you out...freak

I just raced my last Sat. 4/8th. Left in drive all 9 runs, tried a 1000rpm, 2000rpm, 2200rpm launches. For mine the best et was with the 1000 rpm launch. 13.31 ET, 1.870 60', 101.97 mph. Never tried the auto stick shifts? Mine shifts at 6100 rpm like this. These really surprise a lot of people, and I actually beat a 2000 Pontiac WS6 with a lot of mods! Gene
