So the GCSRT-8 owns it in every performance category, especially with 1 second quicker to 60 and 2.6 seconds quicker to 100. The SS also has a worse interior in my opinion, doesn't sound as good or look nearly as beast, the body flexes a ton and the automatic trans sucks in comparision to the Jeep. but the SS has 15% more storage area and heated seats so the SS wins.
^^ i agree, these suv's were not created to pull boats and go off roading either its an ss witch means super sport and srt we all know what that means this should have been a judgment on raw performance.... just my .02
My mom has an 06 SS its a real nice car , air ride in the rear , front heated seats only , Touchscreen navigation , sunroof , etc . I mean it runs good , handles very well for a big SUV and rides pretty smooth . But i would by far rather have a jeep srt8 but hey my mom likes the trailblazer

Makes you wonder who works at these magazines. They should all have disclaimers saying they are opinionated columns.
So 2 SUV/trucks. Both made for pretty much one thing. One exceeds in every category it is made for, but somehow loses because of something it wasnt desgined to do..hmmm.
Reminds me of the SRT/cobalt/RSX comparison while back.
I've driven both on auto-x courses, and always knew I was driving a truck. My opinion....
The SRT:
- Has the better brakes
- Slaps you back in the seat when you power-brake off the line (worth the price of admission, IMHO)
- Otherwise still has the suspension of a truck
The SS:
- Nose dives a tremendous amount on hard braking
- Feels about the same as the Jeep in the corners
- Drifts easier than the JGC (with T/C turned off)
- A little better fuel economy
Both are trucks for those with a heavy foot, and big gas budget. Since the SS is cheaper, it comes down to price or punch -- you choose.
Just my observations after spending a few "quality" minutes behind the wheel of each.
What atomic said is very true, sometimes to such an extreme its just blatantly obvious and ridiculous. MoPar has never been a company to go overboard on advertising infact they usually underate, they seem to prefer to let their products do the talking.
I took a ride with a professional driver in the jeep at the SRT experience. They take the jeeps out on the track with the vipers, and those jeeps were all over those vipers, FYI this was a road course. The handling for these things are amazing. I remember the day my dad saw this article, my family has a srt-8 jeep, he about flipped. He was going to write in, but I told him what all of you are saying, it's all about the money.
The gcsrt8 is sooo much better, matter of fact i went to the new dodge dealership down the road and they just recieved one like an hour prior to me arriving. So i sat in it loved the interior and the sound... think i might go back and test drive it. Oh yeah im eighteen too, but they treated me like royalty and asked me if wanted to test drive it(surprised me), but its soo nice.
