Default ESP (electronic stability program)

did anyone get the ESP to work in full off mode? in the manual it says to depress and hold the switch for 5 seconds when the vehicle is stopped and the engine is running then a chime will sound and a message displays ESP off.
I tried many times but no luck. any ideas? I appreciate any help.

Maybe this will sound silly, but try going a few more seconds, maybe as much as 8.

I have always suspected that the manual that comes with the SRT-8 is just a regular WK manual....

While some GC SRT-8 owners received a regular WK manual there is a specific GC SRT-8 manual available. It says Grand Cherokee SRT-8 & has a GC SRT-8 pictured on the front.

Ok I checked my manual (which is for the srt8). All you have to do to turn it off is to press the ESP botton. Don't need to hold it for five seconds (or anything like that) and you can do it while driving. The second you press it, an "ESP Off" light will turn on in the dash.

As I said earlier, it is only a partial off. It keeps the limited slip differential on.

If you leave the system on fully, a light will flash on the dashboard when you are in an extreme driving condition that requires system activation.

Hope this helps.

Oh i just wanted to add (as a matter of trivia) that during early to mid testing on the jeep srt8 by the srt engineers, they turned the esp off completely and were able to pull .9+ g's. I can't find the link at the moment but if I do, I'll add it here. Indirectly, I think car and driver confirms in their battle between jeep and the ss that they were not able to turn the esp off, and so, were not able to properly test the jeep in the skidpad and other various handling scenarios. Because of this, they were only able to acheive a high .8 (i think it was a .88 or .89) g score.
