Well, I droped of the car this moring, and got a call a few hour's afterl.....Upon futher inspection from the lead tranny tech, my damn bushing was complety gone!
The shift cable bushing that connect's to the top of the tranny was no where to be would. That would explain why I have be having alot of play in the shifter when it's in gear.
I'll be ordering the cable sonn, but will take about a week till they have them. (My cost is right at $92.00..list is $124...somewhere around there)
So luckly it wasn't the tranny. (Even though I wouldn't mind a new one.
So, for you people having problem's like this, hard to get into reverse, under WOT going into 2nd gear, or all gear's, take a minute and check the bushing to see if it's still there. Just take out the battery, and the battery holder and it's right there. You'll have to take out the shifter, and a heat shield underneith the car, and it slide's right through! Also, I heard it has been a common problem, so they have upgraded the bushing to a stoute'er one.
Just thought I'd share, and help out the people with simular prpblem's.

Bolt one's....
Stock clutch, FPR mod, intake, TB, WGA, Cam's, MM's, STS, and IC. Think that's about it.
Actually, they thought it was the tranny, and was in the process of ordering one.
I wasn't worried at all. I know the Lead Tech up there, and the top sale's man that is married to the Dealer's owner's daughter.
ummm... you can get bushings for far less my friend.

You might have miss understood. NOT the booger bushing on the shifter, it's the whole clutch cable that goe's from the top of the tranny, Goe's through the wirewall, then under the car (covered by a heat shield) then up to the shifter.
And you can't just replace that bushing, they have a re-designed one. The tranny dude told me you can't replace it, need to replace the whole cable. Atleast it's a cheap part, install is pretty simple to.

Is the plastic piece that the bushing is supposed to sit in cracked or damaged? If not then I don't see the reason why you have to replace the entire cable. I don't understand how the cable even stayed on without the bushing in there??

as others have said, unless the housing that holds the bushing was destroyed, you could have just bought some booger bushings and popped them in. You can just replace the bushing, but i'm sure the dealer won't tell you that in most cases. And yes, we know its the bushing on top of the tranny, not in the shifter.

This same thing just happened to my friends car when I was running him the other day. He went to shift into 3rd and there was nothing there. I immediately opened his hood to inspect the booshings and it was ripped all the way across...if you move the shifter you can watch the cable move in the bushing....pwnd. We ordered some boogers:-)
Anyone that needs stock replacement bushings, just PM me. $5 shipped gets you a whole set (4 small bushings) for '04/'05, or 3 small bushings for the '03 (I don't have any of the large bushings).
Since the one large bushing found on '03 SRTs and Neons (and all prior years) is hard to find, you may want to find some shifter cables from an '04/'05 Neon in a salvage yard and swap them over.
