P0441-EVAP PURGE SYSTEM PERFORMANCE [thepowertowin]
When Monitored: Cold start test. Engine Running. Small Leak Test Passed.
Set Condition: The PCM activates the EVAP Purge solenoid gradually increases to maximum flow. During flow, the PCM looks for the NVLD switch to close. If the PCM does not see the NVLD switch close at maximum flow an error is detected. Two Trip Fault.
So what does this mean? Basically when your purge solenoid opens, it puts vacuum onto the rest of the emissions system/gas tank, etc. There is a little diaphragm controlling a switch in the system. If the system holds pressure, it will pull the diaphragm, and ultimately close the switch.
So what this means is either the purge isn't opening to pull vacuum to the system. (doubtful) or more likely it's between 2 things. There is either a leak in the system. (visual test will be hard to find. Usually at the dealer we use an EELD machine to check flow, and have the ability to run smoke through the system) OR you are looking at the NVLD switch not being any good. (The system would be pulling the diaphragm w/o a change in switch position.) The dealer is the best equipped to fix this for you
My car is throwing code 0572, now I still have brake lights and the fluid level is fine so what is this code telling me? Should I just replace stoplight switch?, or is there more to this?
Possible causes are switch, wiring or pcm. Most likely a switch.
From dealerconnect:
TEST ACTION APPLICABILITY
1 NOTE: Verify battery voltage is greater than 10 volts.
Record Freeze Frame Data that was set by the related DTC before continuing.
With the DRBIIIt, read DTCs and record the related Freeze Frame data.
Is the Good Trip Counter displayed and equal to zero?
All
Yes ! Go To 2
No ! Refer to the INTERMITTENT CONDITION symptom in the
Diagnostic category.
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 5 - NGC.
2 Turn the ignition off.
Remove the Brake Lamp Switch and disconnect the harness connector.
Measure the resistance between the (Z1) Ground circuit terminal and the (K29)
Brake Switch Signal terminal at the Brake Lamp Switch.
Apply and release the brake pedal plunger while monitoring the ohmmeter.
Does the resistance change from below 5.0 ohms to an open circuit?
All
Yes ! Go To 3
No ! Replace the Brake Lamp Switch.
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 5 - NGC.
3 Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the PCM harness connectors.
Measure the resistance between ground and the (K29) Brake Switch Signal circuit in
the Brake Lamp Switch harness connector.
Is the resistance below 100 ohms?
All
Yes ! Repair the short to ground in the (K29) Brake Switch Signal
circuit.
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 5 - NGC.
No ! Go To 4
4 NOTE: Before continuing, check the PCM harness connector terminals for
corrosion, damage, or terminal push out. Repair as necessary.
Using the schematics as a guide, inspect the wire harness and connectors. Pay
particular attention to all Power and Ground circuits.
If there are no possible causes remaining, view repair.
All
Repair
Replace and program the Powertrain Control Module in accordance
with the Service Information.
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 5 - NGC.
After a week of it throwing code this morning no code wth? Do these things fix themselves regularly?
are you sure the CEL just didnt turn off? you probably still have the code unless you disconnected the battery. check with the key trick and code will most likely still appear.
my car just threw off p0633 i no it means skim key not programed but ive had this stage 1 in my car for 4 years why would it all of a sudden throw off this code i hope all it is is the pcm needs to be reset but how do you do that and if that doesnt work then what.
