Ok a buddy of mine..His car has the high idle and the surging I told him to purchase the tps repair kit from S&P but we dont have a soldering iron ...So if he just decides to take it to dodge (it is out of warrenty BTW) how much should it cost to get repaired??
Any info is much needed thanks in advance

Uhm, why not just buy a soldering iron? Paying someone to do something for you cost MONEY, learning to do something yourself, PRICELESS! lol Ok, to answer your question, IF the dealership would do this, I suspect they would charge your buddy half hour to 1 hour of their going shop rate.... Do yourself a favor and run to Walmart or some place and get a tool, you will use it over and over again, beside, one day someone may PAY you to have you do the same to their car.

Soldering is easy...Strip the necessary wire(s), twist together, hold the soldering iron under, but directly touching the wires to heat them up, and then apply the soldering material and watch it melt and fuse the wires together...Easy! I am frugal, sooooo, I picked one up at Walmart for like 5.00. Glad to hear that you are contemplating learning this.... Hey its just another credit in your favor. Learn to do what you can so that you are able to keep more money in your pocket for modding

Actually that is not the correct way to do it. You need to put solder on each end of the wires you are soldering together. Then you touch the two wires together and heat the solder that is on both ends up with the soldering iron. At least from everything I have read that is how it is supposed to be done.

Before you start soldering TPS wiring and stuff. Practice on some spare speaker wire or something just to make sure you can solder the TPS .my 2cents

So you just "tin" the tips of the wire then just join them together by the "tins"? Doesnt seem like there is much surface area to hold....

I did the repair myself because the stealership kept saying "can't duplicate problem". I crimped them together (using those little metal things for stereo wires) and didn't solder them. it did the trick and hasn't caused me a problem yet (knocking on wood). its been that way for about 35k miles.
