Default MY daily update

Stopped by to pick up the dealer records of what they have done. I'm sending off the Lemon Law paperwork tommorow, it's all filled out. Dealer STILL has not heard back from Dodge about a fix. The service guy told me he's dying to find out what Dodge recommends for a fix. That makes two of us.

Moral of the story, if your shit breaks, it's better if it breaks all the way!!!!!!!!

You know, when I reviewed the fix on my car, it was reinsert the wirer harness to the sensor and reset the computer.

Just amazing how a dealership can foul up a good relationals with an owner in fixing something so simple.

Default Thanks guys

Hey fellas.
Just posting to thank you guys to take the time out to share your advice and sh*t. I had the same problem show up this past sunday, and i was stressed 'cause i had a real busy week ahead, and i couldn't have my car sitting @ the dealer. I saw the thread, printed it, and gave it to the shop foreman when i dropped my car off at lunch. They had it ready later that day, and the service guys kept the printout and thanked me for it when i picked her up. Anyone who contributed to this thread in the SD area wants to get a beer or smoked out its on me. peace.

Jas,

Thanks for the quick work. Unfortunately, your problem was not identical to mine. If you were at 3000 rpm at stop, you had a different problem. Mine drops immediately to 1100 when the speedo hits zero. And yes, I know that 1100 is high. Mine only stays at 3000 when there is motion, be it forward or backward.

It must be related...maybe yours did not break all the way like mine...I would have them check that sensor

Yes, they are related in that both the IAC and the TPS contribute to what the PCM decides idle should be at any given time. The difference is that the IAC is a solenoid, not a sensor. The PCM uses signals from the TPS and other sources to decide what idle speed should be. The PCM uses the IAC like an older motor would use a choke.

Ok...called the service manager.

He checked and the when they fixed my car, they did put the problem and fix into the Star Center database.

So...the Star Center has the fixed in the database. So there is no reason they cannot fixed this problem for you.

They fixed the TSP sensor wiring harness by extending the wiring harness and resinserted the wiring.

Service Manager laughed when I told him that your mechanic cannot contact him.

AHA!!!!, Watson!!!!! (or Hemi) I think I've got it!!!!!!!

What we have here is a failure to communicate!!!!!!!

I don't know jack about the STAR system, but I'm assuming it's a searchable database of problems and solutions. And with any database, 99% of the problems come from bad search terms, or bad linkages.

SO if your guys entered the problem under the sensor category, and my guy is looking it up under the wiring category, that would explain why he can't find it. OR some stuff to that effect.

(rant mode activate) GODDAMN THE DEATH OF TROUBLESHOOTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (rant mode off)

Anyway, could you ask your guy if he minds me calling him? I'm going to ask my guys for more info about the STAR system and then call him and see if I can make the ends meet.

S.T.A.R. is an acronym(forgot what it means) but it is for a group of chrysler engineers who take phone calls, look in computer records for reported fixes and troubles around the country, read the FSM back to you, and sometimes sit around with their thumbs up their a$$es. I really don't know, but from a mechanics perspective, all they do is relay info. They don't troubleshoot,, they don't work, they just sit at desks and look things up. I could have reached through the phone when on more than one occasion they just read the FSM back to me when I asked about a problem. I know how to read. Fricken idiots.....
