P2096 downstream O2 1/2 lean
i've a stock 05 srt-4 that i ran into a wall(front right at corner) @ nurburg. insurance fixed it in germany and i had it shipped back 2 years ago.
it's idling really rough after it starts to warm up sometimes, but when it'd bone cold and once it gets to operating temp it's fine.
somewhere between 160 and 190 degrees (in closed loop i think) it starts to loose vacume pressure (and rpm's sometimes) at idle. it seems to steadly loose vacuum (to around 10in)and then gains it all back at once making the car "buck" and accelerate quickly(if in gear) or will almost stall sometimes and have an erratic idle when left to warm up. once the needled on the vac guage starts dropping something raises my idle till the vacuum reads normal (arouond 17-19in. of vac) then it repeates the cycle till the engine is at operating temp(190-200 degrees). then it drives just fine. i threw a P2096 and the check engine light came on.
i took it to my local dealership and they refused to work on it, siting some king of bs about it having damage from running non mopar coolant.
so i took it to the next place and they found a bunch of my pcm connectors w/o the little locking clips. (thanks german insurance job!). their tech said it could be an evap can with solid fuel in it or a bad pcm. they told me they couldn't further diagnose the problem till that stuff was replaced anyway.
i'm pretty sure i have an exhaust leak somewhere between the engine and the downstream O2 sensor. how can i test for this? can anyone help me?
