Default P1188 - Tip Sensor

So it got COLD (for virginia) lately. 14 degrees, and when i floored the car i got a boost spike to almost 20psi. im guessing it was because the air density was that much more, then the CEL came on. P-Code P1188, tip sensor. Would a malfunctioning TIP sensor cause boost spike by any chance? Im going to reset the PCM and see if it comes back, id just like to know to satisfy my curiosity

1188 is the overboost at part throttle code.
if you have any boost related mods, you will see it alot.
there are three ways to eliminate the code.
1. you can reset your ECU everytime you get the code.
2. you can get stage 1 (which dosent use the tip sensor).
3. you can cap off the line to the tip sensor (ED tip mod).

I just got mine back from the dealer today. and had the same symptoms you had and the 1188 code to boot. I had to have the green line that runs into the back of the turbo replaced. Sometimes it comes off as well. Look on the backside of the turbo and make sure the green line is connected.

I had this happen to a friend too.. Green line come off the back of the compressor housing, let us know if that was the problem.
