Default My srt-4 is totaled - Airbags didn't deploy

The car is completely wreaked, and the airbags didn't deploy. I'm lucky to be alive. Should I do something about this? I know it's a big deal when the airbags don't deploy. Any input would be helpful.

Wow, sorry to hear about that. Glad you're ok. What happened? What was the accident? Any pictures of the car yet?

Depends on the collision if the airbags deploy. I know they work as I have two blown ones from a wrecked srt at home. So you really need to look at the conditions of the accident and such.

could be for many reasons, what kind of impact, they don't always deploy. at really high speeds i've seen them not deploy the sensors just get obliterated.... so who knows man.. find out but just be thankful you're alive... details on the accident if you don't mind... i'm curious as to why they didn't go off if it was a frontal, accident myself.

airbags won't just deploy. All kinds of sensors to determine impact force and direction of the impact are used to determine if it should blow the bags or not.

damn, what happened man? My friend's civic got totalled (crashed into the side of the FreeWay doing 75mph) and the Air Bags didn't deploy. She didn't follow it up since she got the money back for the car.
I'm sorry about your SRT though. Give us more info about how it happened so that we have a heads up.

Thanks and sorry again...

If you feel concerned about them not deploying, contact Dodge.

The sensors are located in the radiator support area. One on each side of the support(left and right).

Side impacts WILL NOT trigger airbags. Front airbags, of course.

That's right, but she hit the side first but then she hit the guards in the freeway straigh up... the motor was almost in the passenger cabin.

Imagine it this way...

you have ball bearing which is sitting on a magnet. Now, the force has to be
great enough to pull the ball bearing from its resting place on the magnet to
send it to the connectors where the connection is made.

Impact not hard enough? Then the ball bearing just sits there and waits until
the impact IS hard enough.

Sort of like this...

Wow thanks for the great detail, I think you should sue the Airbag manufacturer.

^Some people just dont have the brain capacity to be appropriate sometimes..

Im sorry to hear about your accident. Glad to hear you are OK, tho. We will need a detailed step-by-step of the accidents occurances to determine if this was indeed a problem with the airbags, or they werent supposed to deploy.
