Default Lower Alternator Bracket Problems

so my alternator belt was tore all to crap and it came off so i went and bought a new one. when putting it on i noticed the pulley wasnt aligned with the crank pulley. so i pulled the passenger side wheel off and the inner wheel well and noticed the pivot bolt is wobbling around. i took it out and i see that the inside of the hole on the bracket is shaped weird and oblong?

is it supposed to look like that? when i took it out there is this little ring that slides inside the other side (drivers side) of the bracket that is oblong as well on the inside diameter. how do i get this thing together? is it supposed to be like that or do i need a new bracket?

the inside of the bracket is the same as the little round thing i am showing you. that round that fits inside the bracket on the drivers side of the bracket. its threaded on one side but smooth on the other side.

the pivot bolt is supposed to be tighten when assembled. If you put new belt on, and tighten everything. If it's still wobbling around, odds are from the fact that you let the problem go on and on, so now it's time to pay the piper.

You have 3 bolts that hold the alternator to the bracket

pivot bolt
adjustment bolt
rear tension on belt bolt

rear tensioner should be tighten to get desirable tension. Make sure the adjustment\pivot bolts are loose. Then tight them after you have the right tension.

Odds are if the crank pulley doesn't line up, it's because some asshole took it off, and don't have the correct tool to push on and seat the pulley. A hammer and a block of wood is a no go.

see when i tighted the pivot bolt it starts to get tighter then you can feel it "jump" a thread and its like you are starting over again. so i get another turn on it, it feels like its getting tighter, then BOOM its loose again. there is a little ring inside the bracket that has threadings on one side. how does this thing keep it all together? i have a pic that was sent to me from the parts dept. of my local dealership but it doesnt show anything i need to know. i'm ready to set my car on fire!
