have any of you guys ever had this problem? and what were the syptoms of it? i think this might be my problem. or what are the symptoms of a camshaft sensor goin bad?
cam sensor would throw p0344/p0340 code. 0344 is cam/crank sensor relation, 0340 is cam sensor performance. if either of these happen, car will go into limp mode, you wont be able to rev above 2500rpm or the engine will start to miss. this is a fairly common problem with aftermarket intakes i guess, because they hit the cam sensor. on the bright side, the cam sensor is real easy to change. 40 bux for a lifetime replacement part at autozone, 2 10mm bolts, and a 3 wire connector is it. very accessible. i did mine in the autozone parking lot.
symptoms of a stuck injector would be flooding, gas smell from exhaust. best way to tell would be to pull the fuel rail, leave the injectors installed in it, leave the fuel line connected to it, and turn the key to the acc position. the fuel pump will then prime the line for about 5 seconds. if during this time any fuel shoots out, your injector is stuck open.
ok thanks ill try that friday im stuck in college now. my engine light was flashing but now i drove it home shaking and missing horribly sounds like a wrx
yeah that's it. keep it below 2500 rpms. chances are when you start the car again it may go away, unless the sensor is totally fucked. check the codes. i bet you have 0340,0344. change the cam sensor.

i told him to check the codes, he said he had none...
hmm^^^ coud have been a one time thing. i think the pcm is designed to basically forget about fluke happenings like that after so many driving cycles. not sure though. does he have a aftermarket intake?

Yes he has the JMB Short ram intake. What would that have anything to do with? If the injectors are stuck open how would u fix that? or would u just have to buy new ones?

if the injectors are stuck open then you will have to get new ones.
your in limp mode, pcm is dumping fuel causing the engine to break up above 2500 rpm. thats why you have the strong smell of fuel. the aftermarket intakes sometimes whack the cam sensor because they are alot bigger than the stock intake. when this happens it fux up the cam sensor. i can't believe you have no codes though.
you may still want to do what i said earlier and check the injectors to make sure there isn't one stuck open.

aftermarket intakes are normally the culprit for the cam sensor getting knocked outta whack
ok well i gotta check it out friday and ill let you guys know. but how would i tell if an injector is stuck closed if possible?
Easiest way would be to swap out with a set of known working injectors. If you have some fellow SRT owners in the area I'm sure someone has a set of stockers you can borrow. They do make injector stethoscopes, so to speak, for injectors as they do audibly "click" when opening and closing. Alternatively you could be ghetto like my father and jam a screw driver in the well between the plenum and the injectors and listen to the end of it

that is not as ghetto as you may think, LOTS of mechanics do that trick, and any stethoscope is just a glorified version of the screwdriver! you can use a doctors steth too....
ok i took the injectors out. turn the key and nothing. no injectors stuck open. put a new cam sensor on it and still nothing. put new plugs and gapped em. new plug wires. checked coil pack. im clueless
