Default I get oil on spark-plug #2 (on the treads) !

I get oil on spark-plug #2 (on the treads) ! Is this normal ? If not, what's the problem and how can I get it fixed ? It's been like that since I first changed my stock plugs at 3000 miles and I've been changing them at the same rate (3000 miles) and I allways have the oil on the treads of #2. I use the OEM Champion plugs gapped at .40.

Thanks.

take a compression check to see what all cyl are reading.a leak down test is best if ya got the tool to do it.and why are you changing plugs at 3000 miles anyway .

If you only have oil on the threads and not on the electrode, this may just be the valve cover gasket leaking. If this is the same setup as the 2.0L engines, this may be the cause. Actually, it isn't the V/C gasket itself, it's a small o-ring that seals off the V/C from the valvetrain. Next time, take the spark plug boot off and look in the hole and see if you can see any oil in there.

Is your car running poorly?

Thanks guys ! I'll get in touch with the dealer for a new VCG oring since the car has been doing this since it was new.

I change my plugs often since they are cheap and I don't want worn spark-plugs on my car. Do I need to change them that often ? NO They cost 12$ so why not ? I like a car that performs at it's best at all time so it's more an insurance than anything else.

My car has plenty of power and performs well even if I have that little oil leakage. Well enough to get 105 mph traps with only the SM and a drop-in K&N with MSD wires.

im' pretty sure spark plugs last like 30 thousand miles or so. that's just overkill.

All I know is that pro racers with turbocharged engines change their spark-plugs each time they run down the track. So I change mine often and I don't mine the 12$ investment every 3 months.

Cool, another thing I thought it could be is that the valve cover itself isn't tight? Never know, just get them to look at it. Tell us how it went.
