okay. everyones engine taps. every freaks out and then they get told its just the injectors...yeah not always. i have valve lash and need all new ones . i can hear my valves going crazy when im inside my house over my TBE . and when im driving i can hear it over the cold air and TBE too. if you have this problem you might wanna get it looked at it too. dodge says even though my car is lightly modded to bring it in anyway and they will replace it. since my car is still warrantied. ill get a video up hopefully today of it so you guys can see if you have it too
anyone have any other input just in case its more than just valve lash!?

Dude i was drag racing friday and after about 8 runs down th 1/8th i was getting back in line and i heard a loud ping. Nothing changed, but after there was a tapping i could hear it would speed up if i brought the RPM's up. I decided not to run the rest of the night and just pulled out of line. I was able to drive it home and there was no noticable difference in the way it drove. I took an easy on it just in case. but it sounds like the same thing, it doesnt tap on start up either just after a few moments. Its still under warranty as well so i will be taking it in tomorrow. Thanks for posting your problem, now i can sleep tonight. I will post the results.

yeah my car still pulls just as hard . but yeah the tappping speeds up when i rev it higher. your fine for now man. but get it looked at. Let me know ASAP what they say! thanks
so brought car to dealer today. they said they hear the tapping and it is a serious problem. its still under warranty so today the last i heard they were gonna take the valve cover off and work there way down and see what needed to be fixed. ill keep you updated b/c i know alot of srt-4's that have the same noise and people just think its injectors
This valve lash, I am pretty sure was deemed harmless by the manufacture. I remember a while ago when this issue came up on here. Someone posted a TSB for it from Dodge regarding the issue and the fix. I googled for a while and came up with this

I would be worried about that especially since you were racing and heard a loud ping afterwards. If your car has the lifter tick which is harmless then you would usually know in the first couple thousands of miles of owning it such as myself. Sorry if you can't sleep well forever lol.
Any update on this? as my car started doing it louder now. It sounds like if a Valve would be smacking the piston, but no smoke, and the car pulse the same as ever...........
Jeez ok so yeah it was not my valves, some how or another my throw out bearing shifted out a bit and was hitting a rotating part. Since thats part of the Clutch assy. its not under warranty but i fought it for like an hour on the phone since i have yet to drive the car 800 miles yet. They finally gave in and let me pay my deductableto fix it. Just to let you know they really should of done it, i have heard of people driving of the lot and the clutch going out and the dealer wont help. i had no choice though i hadn't even made my first payment and the clutch job was $1350. But yeah as for that tap it was my tranny not the engine.
